Another who has joined the " vision club". I used to wear my Kaenons then switched to my Costco +1.50 readers to tie flies. Worked ok, just kept readers in my sling pack. This Spring I bought Maui Jim sunglass readers. Perfect to use as sunglasses for majority of fishing but small portion in bottom that have +1.50 readers built in for tying flies and tippet. ....no swapping back in forth. I bought the Maui Jims at my optometrist office in Calgary. (I brought a fly and tippet to the optometrist and tied it on to ensure they would work, took about an hour to get used to and no falling issues as they are not as aggressive as progressives )

BC is correct but I'd echo DHurst's suggestion and cast the Orvis Recon as one of the short list. Amazing rod for the dollar.

+1 I was where you were last summer and Rick's primer and focused practice has really helped this summer. Now I struggle with quality presentation of dry flys LOL

I typically bring my own reel that I plan to pair with the rod for test casting, balance, weight and feel.

Orvis Recon 5wt....brilliant rod. You can cast them at several shops in Calgary. Pieroway Element is also good value and a little slower than the Orvis Recon.

Just some follow up on the Hanson Float Trip. My dad and I floated yesterday with Aiden Hanson..... had fantastic day! What an absolutely great guy. Young, PATIENT, knows how to find fish, BBQ smokies shore lunch was great helping with technique when asked. Just great day thanks to Aiden!

I've had great luck with my Orvis nippers. Lightweight and stay quite sharp.

Sorry to hear that fishinglivin.....Windows 8 was awkward to use and not hearing any rave reviews on Windows 10 from my IT department at work either. They use the term "unstable" No critical errors on my Macbook Pro and the Yosemite OS. Apple provides Free OS upgrades (that work and are not buggy). Bought it in 2010, Runs like a top!
