  6. Thanks guys....air mattress or party tube it is!
  7. This will be my second full year of fly fishing (consider me an advanced beginner) who mostly fishes the Bow and currently from shore 100% of the time. If I am considering a float tube or pontoon boat, what are the pluses and minuses of each? Is it easy to pull out, stop and fish a run in them? Do they often spring leaks? High risk to buy pre-owned? I'm thinking might be a way to access many spots that cannot be easily fished from shore or are inaccessible via walk & wade? It" feels like" many of these are purchased, used once or twice and end up on kijiji; so I'm hoping to get some great insight (Good and Bad) from the forum. Finally, I only have a small car which my also limit my options. Advice appreciated.
  8. Great post, enjoyed the read and excited to see the finished product!

    2015 Favourites

    Stunning pictures, thanks for posting!
  10. I got my MJ sunglass readers (+1.50) also from Seton Optometry. So much easier than switching back and forth between sunglasses then readers to tie on my flies. Great all in one solution.
  11. Also a fan of the magnetic net release with the bungy cord. I got excited landing a nice size fish this year and ended up hot footing it downstream to retrieve my net. Been on the magnet/ bungy cord system since. I grabbed a bit longer shock cording at MEC and it idiot proofed it for me.
  12. Quick note to say great to meet Murray, Lornce and Smitty and the FFC booth. Thanks to Murray for the private tying lesson for someone new to the sport and tying! I'm still practicing my bare hook whip finishing...... I enjoyed the show and also found great deals on flies, fishing shirts, buffs but missed out of the wading boot deals (by Sunday the sizing was well picked over)
  13. Thanks to Lornce for teaching my nephew how to tie wooly buggers, Murray for the private tying lesson and Smitty for the positive comments! Nice to meet all three of you.
  14. +1 Likewise, i have mine sharpened annually at Knifewear. Two Calgary locations (Inglewood and Calgary Farmers Market). They also donate portion of sharpening proceeds to local charities.
  15. Please add my condolences to his family, friends and fly fishing network. Those who share their knowledge and help out the new to the sport are massively missed.
