  1. Wtll it fit on a zinger for those river "emergencies"?
  2. Hate me tooo!!!!!
  3. I wet wade 90% of the time. I mostly fish SW Alberta streams and usually stand on the bank or very shallow water, so I rarely get above the knees. I will be wet wading on June 16. Last year I had to use my waders only in the fall. As for the Bow..never fished it! Then again, I wear shorts all year round except for church weddings, funerals and Xmas staff party. 7 years and counting!! Oh.... and I cycle to work every day!! Those UPS guys are pussies! HaHa!
  4. If you are looking for a house or condo try www://vrbo.com ie"(Vacation Rentals By Owner). They have listings for condos worldwide. I used them for a condo in Maui and it was awesome!
  5. Don't forget the dog cone so you don't lick your stitches!!
  6. The last few years it hasn't been that bad. I may have to "bait fish" tho' SJW?!!
  7. I am anxiously awaiting June 16 as I am sure a lot of you are. I am planning on heading down to Racehorse Creek Campground on Monday, June 15 and doing a bit of scouting before wetting my fly the next day. I will be checking the Upper Oldman and the Gap area. What are your plans? I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!
  8. Sirrius Classic, Soul, "70's and Hair Nation on the way!! I love to blare "Gone Fishin" by Bing Crosby and Louis Armstrong when I enter Racehorse Campground!!
  9. I really hope some one will enforce the 2 week stay limit regulation. These areas are for ALL Albertans not just those yahoos that lay claim and hog the spot for the whole summer!! I have heard that they are enforcing it more. It's about time!!
  10. Thanks all for your feedback. I would hate to waste a CO's time! I was also thinking about camping at Racehorse Creek "pre-season" and checking out how the river direction may have changed over the winter down near the Gap. I would probably need my waders to cross some sections. That may require some explaining if I encountered a CO. I'll wait until after May long when they are bored!!
  11. I work with a few friends that want to learn how to fly fish. We are going up to the Waiporous area for the long weekend and I thought it would be great chance to teach them how to cast. Is it illegal to practice casting on a closed river? We would just have a line and a leader and a piece of yarn. I assume it probably is, but I just wanted to check. I can't wait 'til June 16!!
  12. Try Montreal! Drivers are not allowed to turn right on a red light on the "Island"of Montreal. They are allowed throughout the whole province....but not Montreal!!
  13. Ya gotta check out the band "Broken Toyz" at Morgan's Pub in Calgary Tuesday nites for your '80's metal fix. The drummer filled in for Tommy Lee a few years ago. And yes...they play "Home Sweet Home"
  14. Waders - "delaminated" Quality issue! Stove- The burner wouldn't go to low Cooler- I used my cooler (Stainless steel model) for a "suitcase" for a trip to Costa Rica and it broke in transit Abel Reel- A groove was worn in the line guard. Bad stripping technique!! G Loomis- The rod tubes cordura cover detached at the screw lid. I figured that a $650 rod should have a better case! Eureka Tent- A wind squall blew over my tent and broke the aluminium pole I may be hard on my gear but it is used a lot. Last year alone I camped/fished 43 days. It is good to know that these manufacturers stand by their products and warranties!
  15. I'm just rambling here but I would just like say that the convenience of the internet has made customer service so unbelievable. I have had so much success in customer service regarding any problems that I have had with a lot of items. I have received courteous and prompt service from quite a few manufacturers. Specifically: Redington/Sage- replaced waders Abel- Replaced reel cage Eureka Tents- replaced pole Coleman- replaced campstove - replaced cooler latch G Loomis-replaced rod case Thanks to you all!! You're awesome!!
  16. I have a big "briefcase" box for my flies and a Fishpond vest with built in flyboxes. I add and subtract flies depending on the day. It's mostly add!!
  17. I have never fished the Bow. I hear it is a good river for trout! C'mon SJW!! No really..............I have never fished the Bow!!..REALLY!!!!! Who wants to show me how? P.S I don't "bait fish" as a rule but I would like to learn,.
  18. I drove to Balzac to finally check out BPS/Outdoor World today. I was personally very disappointed. The store is amazing with all it's taxidermy and "bric-a-brac" but I found that pricing was kinda weird as it wasn't really clear and there was no one around to ask for clarification. The reason I went was not specifically for fly fishing but for apparel and camping gear. I ignored the boats, fishing and hunting gear and shopped in the other areas where I was interested. The camping area was very bare and didn't really have much inventory. I don't know if it was all bought up or just not stocked yet. It was kinda Walmart stocked with lots of empty spaces in the shelves. I looked in the Fly fishing area and it was pretty lame. This is what I expected as I have looked at their FFing gear on line and they really don't have much. None the less there was a lot of empty shelves and rod racks. I am interested in buying a pair of fishing glasses and I leaned on the counter for a while and no one offered to help. The best deal were their PBC's (Personal Beverage Containers) They have some great BPS logo cups that fit in camping chairs for a buck something (great for all inclusive tropical getaways) as well as bigger insulated mugs at 2 for $8 and beer koozies!! I bought some PBC's only and as I went thru the check out it was obvious that I enjoy beverages when I go camping!! Check it out but don't have high hopes. I will still visit my friends at the smaller Calgary shops for all my fly fishing needs.
  19. I carry an airhorn on a holster on my wading belt. I bought a water bottle bag/holder at MEC that attaches to my belt and holds it perfectly. Once while I was in the back of my truck (I have a topper) I accidentally knelt on my horn and it went off. Scared the *hit outta me. It makes a pretty load sound in an enclosed space!!! I am contemplating buying spray this year though. http://www.mec.ca/Products/product_detail....D=1239401509746
  20. I don't think it will affect me. I just hope gas doesn't mysteriously double this summer!
  21. I purchased this wading staff a few years ago and I am very happy with it. I noticed it was on sale so I thought I would let you all know. It's 1/3 the price of others and worth it! http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/template...&hasJS=true
  22. #1 is a favourite on the Rose & Crown menu!! #6 isn't!!
