  1. I just bought this. It's great. So my answer is a vest with a pack http://www.fishpondusa.com/wasatch.cfm
  2. I"ve never caught a "smart" fish in my life. Any one else?
  3. I have had amazing success over the last 4yrs with a Parachute Caddis. It's amazing and highly visible.
  4. I think most of us have had the same experience, Just think that you are going to the river to "flycast" and perhaps catch a fish. You learn more about this game every time out ...Enjoy
  5. I fished the Oldman/Racehorse above the Gap today (Tuesday) and I have never seen so many fly fishermen!! It was downright crowded!! But, Yesterday I saw no one............! Fishing was so-so.
  6. I've got a friend that wants to buy a new 4 wt rod and reel for around $500. He does 99% dryfly fishing and fishes the Crow and Oldman area. Any suggestions. Again I look for BBB to kick this topic off!
  7. Well as mentioned I was up in Waiporous the last few days and it was high and dirty. Next week I want to head down to the Gap and camp at Racehorse campground. Should I bother? What's the status of Racehorse, Upper Oldman and Livingston. Camping by yourself for a few days with no fishing might be a little boring. Peaceful ..yes.
  8. Really! I'd love to learn how to bait fish from the master. Let's book a day.
  9. I use the vest mostly but I do wear a chest pack for dry fly fishing. I like to make a stool out of rocks, drape my vest on it and fish a good pool for a while.
  10. Well, Finally the day I've been waiting for is just a few days away. I will be going to North Ghost Provincial Recreation Area for our Annual Staff Camping trip. I'll bring me new G Loomis Streamdance and at least practice casting on Waiporous Creek. I know the Bow is good under these conditions but how will the other rivers be. Is it worth a try? What's everybody else up to? and "No "you have to be specific!!
  11. I went up to Waiporous on Sunday to visit a friend. He said that on Saturday nite the area he had parked his RV was saturated with tents. Most of them had left by the time I got there on Sunday. Nonethe less it was quite crowded as expected. Yesterday (Mon) everybody left and I walked throughout the area picking up garbage. To be honest...I expected a lot worse, It was surprisingly well cleaned up. I did pick up a LOT of toilet tissue. Not a fun job, but necessary. I think the government should put up signs on how to crap in the woods and how to dispose of TP. Nothing looks worae than an area strewn with TP. I was glad to have picked it up.
  12. I have a Mazda B4000. No complaints so far. I use it exclusively for camping/fishing as I ride my bicycle every day in the city.
  13. Come summer (except for the Bow) wading boots, wool socks, neoprene socks, shorts and lots of leg hair!!!
  14. An interesting insight....I was steelhead fishing on the Deschutes River in Oregon a few years ago close to where it meets the Columbia River. Regulations state that you can't fish from a boat. I saw quite a few belly boats. They are considered "boats" so it is illegal to fish while floating in them. Nonetheless fishermen would use them to move around the river from sand bar to sand bar etc. To legally fish they had to have their feet on the bottom while fishing. Therefore it wasn't practical to wear fins and they wore their wading boots on the "greased bowling ball bottom" and they used ping pong racket type paddles to get around. Kinda neat.
  15. Well I don't know if Jessie had anything to do with it (I think he did) but I just received a text messsage and my rent-a-dog Kudra is passing thru Calgary and I will be bringing her down to the Crow Sunday for a few days for what willl surely be our last trip together. I thought that we would never be together again. Thanks Jess!!
  16. I had the pleasure of meeting Jessie last summer at Racehorse Creek. As we sat at the fire enjoying a few "pops", we watched Jessie and my "rent-a-dog,Kudra, race around the campsite chasing each other. It was hilarious!! Kudra being in the lead most of the time but Jessie wasn't far behind nipping at her heels!! Pretty impressive for a larger dog with "bionic" knees!! Last summer was my best summer ever of camping and fishing. It was largely due to my fishing/camping companion, Kudra. Kudra has moved on and her owner is about to move back to PEI. It will be a lonely summer for me as well. It saddens me. The loss of Jessie saddens me as well. I guess I can say.....I feel your pain. My sincere condolences to you, Lynn...Mike and Hayden. I look forward to walking by the Jessie tree...and smilin'!
  17. I am planning on heading to the Crow next Sunday (May 13) for a few days. I am not much of a "nympher" but I want to improve on that technique. Any suggestions on rigs and flies. I know you guys can give me some good advice. Also do you know if there will be wood available at Lundbreck Falls Campground?

  19. I haven't talked to my Atlanta friend yet but his friends told me that he went out on his own Saturday and Sunday and fished the Crow in the snow and cold and finally caught one on Sunday. Ya gotta appreciate his perseverance!!
  20. I swore I would never get a cellphone. A girl got me one for Xmas and now I find it useful. A few weeks ago I sarcastically asked a friend if he had a cellphone yet? He said "No...I'm not a doctor!!!! Hilarious!!
