You're getting pretty good at sliding on your ass Tex! Looks like a great trip. Recon out

I would like to see the Bow turned into catch and release only. Those that want to go for freezer food can go to the put and take lakes.

The only sounds coming out of Petes tent was snoring. Not sure if it was Deb or Pete though.

Now that looks like an awesome trip! Mouse eating brookies! Awesome

Hasn't been many pictures lately, so here are a few from this last weekend. By jasonvilly at 2012-09-05 Dry Fly Rainbow By jasonvilly at 2012-09-05 Caught this guy on a streamer on Sunday. Streamers seemed to be the key was never a distinct hatch happening. Black nymphs were hot for awhile, and I did manage a few nice bows on a black EHC

Enjoying my korkers so far. Replaceable bottoms which I have done once this summer (I put on a lot of miles) I find the vibram soles pretty good at gripping even the slippiest of rocks. And there is an option to buy a vibram sole with cleats if you need that added traction. Have not had any of the soles falling off problem, like some people will undoubtably mention from the previous models. I purchased the Redside edition. Cost $125 so pretty affordable. Replacement soles are about $30. Decent ankle support. Only thing I didnt like was the laces they put on them. They have this clip that would only go so big, which made it squishy when trying to stick your foot in with waders on. But this was resolved with a new pair of laces with out the clip thing. J

What about braided leaders? Tom Rosenbauer on the or the orvis podcast was talking about using them for dry fly presentations in low clear technical waters.

Hiking With My Wife
jasonvilly replied to reevesr1's topic in General Chat - Not Fishing Related (NFR)
You tell a great tale Rick! Sounds lie your wife and my fiancé are cut from a similar cloth. However mine would have used a little more colorful language. -
Hey Just got back from San Francisco after our 3 day hike to Egypt. Big shout out to Troutlover for putting the trip together. Thanks to the rest of the guys for making it so memorable, still talking about the trip to whoever will listen. Didnt take a lot of photos a lot of the guys posted pictures already, so I just picked a couple of my favourites. Beauty of a cuttie, one of the biggest and probably most colored I caught By jasonvilly at 2012-08-14 Wider angle shot, I love him so much he gets two shot By jasonvilly at 2012-08-14 Hello Gorgeous!!! By jasonvilly at 2012-08-14 You had to earn your fishing opportunities on this trip, which is the way to go, definitely not park and fish in 5 minutes. By jasonvilly at 2012-08-14

Nice rods indeed and like Darrin said it will be even better to see them in person. Sure hope Deb doesn't look on FFC.

Ramen noodles....Sounds like a keeper Dave. If you ever leave that lady who loves to fish and camp with you then you have a backup plan.... Hahaha

Definitely one of those thankless type jobs that no one truly realizes. However without them there would be no FFC. Thank you gentlemen.

I think you are thinking about the term "snagging" but my understanding that means with a gaff hook or some other device designed to purposefully snag a fish. Snagging a fish by such means is illegal in alberta if you look under general regulations. Foul hooking a fish is not considered snagging by my interpretation. Awesome video, you were pretty close.

Any problems this year getting a yearly pass?

Lightweight Inflatable Row Boats/ Pontoons?
jasonvilly replied to a topic in General Chat - Fly Fishing Related
I recall seeing in a movie that they have perfected hover board technology. Should meet your weight requirements, but potentially miss your price. On second thought, in the sequel I don't think it performed that well for McFly over water. -
Keep it up Rick and you'll have testes of steel. Maybe that could be your superpower.

Nice looking fish

Where To Buy Quality Flies Online?
jasonvilly replied to Fishscape's topic in General Chat - Fly Fishing Related
I am an Icky man. (how much arse smooching would I have to do to get sponsored hahaha) Personally I have never had any troubles with their ties. Only problem is the damn trout eating them too much and destroying them. Shipping is fast. Local guys and therefore a local economic impact (don't think they are local tied, but correct me if I'm wrong) Fished with Ben and met joe on the river. Both awesome guys. Great price. Plus they just added 40 new flies, great looking additions. Their grab packs helped me a ton when I was just learning. When you order they give you 10% discount code with your flies. Free flies with every purchase (however the one they sent me I cannot figure out what the heck it is, but cutties love it) I also find their site easier to navigate and less hassle. Biased, maybe but I believe in them. -
Could You Proof-read This And Argue? :)
jasonvilly replied to Smitty's topic in General Chat - Fly Fishing Related
Smitty In my teaching career and coaching I have found less is more with kids when trying to teach them a new skill. I try to give them no more than 3 key points. Anymore than that and it is lost. Not sure if the age group, I work primarily with junior high. Maybe some pictures or diagrams with each point might br better. As Peter said, maybe 1 point could be about the key grip, then have a picture of the grip. Point 4. Talk about the abrupt stop, then show a picture of where their hand and rod should be in relation to their head. This method would also activate their kinesthetic sense along with their visual.. Let me know how it goes, I'm starting an outdoor Ed option next year, and hoping to add a "fishing" module. Good luck and have fun. -

How Many Albertan Species Have You Caught?
jasonvilly replied to jasonvilly's topic in General Chat - Fly Fishing Related
The brook stickleback would be the only real option. But I think they only get to be 2". If I'm correct they are actually in the seahorse family. Not even sure they are in Alberta. Oddly enough that 12 year old caught one. But I doubt on the fly.
