  1. My aunt lives in the area, and both of her wells are now dry. There was no prior consultations with land owners in the area, and it seems that the government is taking a, "its your problem" approach.
  2. I heard this was because they are planning on a large bump of water coming from glenmore reservoir. Should be temporary.
  3. hmmm, I never had a problem parking at bankside after hours... Maybe I am just sneakier? I never saw the sign that said it closed there. Whoops...
  4. Unfortunately this section is closed April 1 to May 31, so you will have to fish below the weir just south of downtown. There are a bunch of other access points for you though. If you are worried about the park, then Bankside, on the North end of Fish creek park does not close its parking. This is just off bow bottom trail, before you enter the park "gates"
  5. i took a look at little bow and sunshine snow pack data today. On or below the low average. Shaping up to be another low water year. We could still get lots of moisture, but time is running out. Will also be interesting to see if they draw down ghost as much they did last year. It was basically running its traditional river path. It was the lowest I had ever seen.
  6. Better than the BC license... When you add all of the classified waters license it quickly becomes a novel in your pocket.
  7. Will try some of those leads. Thanks guys.
  8. Looking to find the rubber quick fist clamps for storing oars while in transit. Look like this: https://www.google.ca/search?q=quick+fist+clamp+canada&espv=2&biw=1280&bih=475&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwiZ1YWKiYrMAhVDXD4KHftJDl8Q_AUIBigB&dpr=1#imgrc=O1A4I7jw_bxHPM%3A Has anyone seen them locally? Hoping to grab some by the weekend, but if not Ill have to order online. Thanks
  9. Syncline group camp About 20 minutes from crowsnest pass. Golf, fishing (beaver mines, castle etc) all nearby. http://www.rockymountaincamping.ca/SynclineA.html Or I have done porcupine group camp in kananaskis. Fishing (k lakes or spray) golf at brewsters 15 mins away. Also a casino nearby. http://www.albertaparks.ca/bow-valley-pp/information-facilities/group-use/porcupine/ J
  10. How about a ride in one?
  11. I was not replying specifically to Bron, and if that is how it was read then I am sorry. I was more so trying to point out this mistreatment of places like Mac, or the Liv, or most of the river X's in Alberta. I was also trying to do it in a light joking kinda way which, seems like it went way south. It was not an attack. I threw in the jet boat comment as a self depreciating joke, as I just bought one, which I am sure I will catch flak for. Crazy thing is, I was thinking of the closed jet boat thread, and thought to myself man I hope I can be the kind of jet boat owner like Fishhead, seems like he respects the river and other river users. Hard for intention to come across in a web post.
  12. So thats about 5 months? $400 a month isn't too bad. Does that include wood?
  13. Yes. I am sure by now though, that some self entitled a-hole has probably cut the lock, or fence, and driven down because it's his "right" to access where ever the heck he wants to because he pays his taxes. Then he will commence to leave his timmies garbage in a pile right beside the garbage can, burn the crapper down on his way out after having caught 10 98" trout using dew worms, because "remember, I paid my taxes" Guy probably owns a jet boat too.... 😜
  14. The road is fine and driveable, but still closed. A buddy mountain biked it. A fellow I saw at the entrance on the kananaskis side said it was the logging company keeping it closed. Truth? No idea.
  15. Whew, I was worried that the cutty hut was in danger of being homeless once again.
  16. I have a fishcat 9IR extremely stable, easy to put together, so far no punctures or leaks, lots of storage, easy to row, added a small motor for lakes and battery. Once you get used to it, you can have it built and on the river in less than 10 minutes. Once broken down, it fits in the back of our subaru with no issues (albeit ours is a hatchback with fold down seats, but a trunk with fold down seats should be fine as well)
  17. Longview always piqued my interest. 15 mins from black diamond. Closer to k country. Longview saloon has live music all the time. Just a cool little spot.
  18. Sometimes its not about the cost, its about the process. Catching a fish on a rod you built, is so much more meaningful.....a value that you cannot monetize. Its why we tie flies, build rods, hike to unreachable places.
  19. I remember reading somewhere, in the proposed redevelopment of St. Patrick's island that there was a plan for a boat launch. In the list above, I have never seen some of those gates opened to the public (example Bakers Park) But it sure would be nice if some were. Could you imagine the 3 day/2 night float you could do? Would be some long days, but doable, I think?
  20. Super cool, keep us updated on the process. Cant wait to see more.
  21. You just need to start giving more away to your buddies ;-)
  22. You are correct, I happened to contact Power drifter in the states and they directed me to Bow Troutfitters, but then mentioned he was selling his demo boat.
  23. Power drifter out of the states has a used 18ft with a tohatsu 50/35. http://www.powerdrifterboats.com/main-index.html I believe they bought the rights to the fish-rite model. I had many conversations with Darrell. Good dude. Nice looking power drifter with all the bells and whistles. Contact Darrell if you're interested: powerdrifterboat@gmail.com
  24. I have been in a power drifter many times (in fact I am now looking for my own jet boat) It is fine on a lake, we often used it to chase pike on the local lakes. You wouldn't want to take it on a lake with a bunch of chop, but fly fishing in those conditions would suck anyhow, so you wouldn't probably go anyway.
