  1. Now that looks like fun, too bad there wasnt a lake to ski down to. A little carve and cast could be a pretty fun day.
  2. Yeti coolers are bomb and zombie proof, but if you are runnin' away from a zombie, you definitely don't want to be carrying a Yeti. Wicked heavy. So take that into account if you plan on having it in a d boat. Fully loaded with a crew's worth of beer and food weighs enough that it will lean your boat if you store it on the side. PIA to constantly make sure guys are on the opposite side to act as a counter weight.
  3. I do not have mine on the roof of my garage, but this thread has definitely got me thinkin' It would be sweet not to have to pull it apart and put it together every single time. I like the idea of backing the truck in and lowering it.
  4. I would love for some guides to chime in here...tell us your story on how you became a guide, what steps you took and how you became a professional. Might help this young guy out. I am sure there are a million different ways that guys got into the profession and once they made that decision the million different paths that they took to become a professional.
  5. Thats brutal, hope it gets found...sorry to hear this Dutchie.
  6. Yup ;-) But I know I've convinced you to go on colder days. Remember the hurricane on the oldman?
  7. Go here for all proposed changes. http://esrd.alberta.ca/fish-wildlife/fisheries-management/documents/Proposed2015AnglingChanges-Nov28-2014.pdf Now I think they made a mistake. They have Bowriver (bearspaw to Carseland) listed as PP2 when it should be ES1. But if it is a mistake and they are proposing the changes I think they are then this will mean big changes for the popular floats. see point 2 1) 0 retention for all species 2) fall closure Oct 1- Nov 31 to protect brown trout Although I float and fish quite a bit in these months, I am not against giving the browns a break to do their thing. Interesting however is that they are not doing the same for rainbows in the spring. Which leads me to postulate that they have realized the browns have taken a hit in last couple of years (flood, sapro, low water fluctuations)
  8. I have the orvis access, may not look the best, but it is pretty good reel for the cheap price.
  9. Always fish with someone who is in worse shape than you. 1) you can always beat them to the next hole 2) If you encounter a bear, you can simply push them over and run. No need for a $35 bottle of bearspray.
  10. Open water pike in the winter, too cool. Great shots man.
  11. Bought my first house in June. Put up lights on my "own" house for the first time this year. I was pretty excited to do it. With the new clips you can buy, sure is a lot easier than when I was a kid doing it with dad. Started small, just the front eveastrough and two trees for this year. Will add more ech year. Lights sure are more expensive than I thought they would be. $200 didn't go very far. I kept thinking about fly fishing equipment I could have bought. But I'm sure my 2 year old nephew will like it.
  12. Rib is good fly fishy, but why stop there, eat every animal mmmmmmmmm meat sweats for all...wear jogging pants Bolero it is.... hahahahaha
  13. Thanks Murray, going tie a few up for my super duper secret lake that is loaded with boatmen. ;-)
  14. Murray, I would love to see a step by step for that beauty.
  15. Picked up a plant last week from Saskatoon farm. $50 for a 2 year old bush. Another option is the honey berry plant. Very hardy and tasty. They had 1 year old plants for $25. Just make sure to get two different species so that they can cross pollinate and give you berries. They had plenty of both last weekend.
  16. Thanks Bcube, River must have looked much different back then, no way you would get a horse across there now.
  17. Something I have always wondered, and asked many fly fishers with no real answers. Where did the names Policeman's Flats and Graves landing come from? As in what is the origin of their names? Anyone have any answers?
  18. No iOS version yet, but it is rumoured to be coming soon. For now only Android users can get it.
  19. Pretty windy down there at times, perhaps a small windmill of some type?
  20. Smitty, My buddy has one for sale (post in trading post) in great condition. Pushes a drift boat with no problem. Not sure what you're looking for, but might be easier to get it from Calgary to Edmonton. Located in Calgary
  21. Stillwater flyshop is pretty good online. They usually have good sales and throw in a free line with the purchase rod or reel. Free shipping to canada on orders over $50 if I remember correctly. Sometimes if you call you actually get a better deal than online. But used is a good way to go as well, try putting on a WTB post and sometimes guys will want to help you out.
  22. I prefer a flamethrower, PIA, to hike with but it will 100% save your life. Plus starting your campfire is a breeze.
