  1. Well said!
  2. My Bow River arsenal includes an 8'6" 5wt for Dries, 9'0" 6wt for nymphs and a 10'0" 7wt for streamers. Depending on the situation, water condition and time of year, I'll typically have two rods with me and any one given time.

  4. Sorry for your loss Lynn, thoughts are with you and your family.
  5. I think he meant Spey, but I can't be certain. I will typically just tie a perfection loop onto 9-10' of 10lb mono to create my own leader for nymphing. I was once asked, why use a $3 tapered leader to nymph when 1. it turn over doesn't matter as much, and 2. you'll likely end up either busting off, or getting a hell of a knot in it and need to scrap it anyway. I also use about 2' of 15lb mono tied to 3' 10lb mono on a sink tip for my streamer fishing. This way, you still have a "taper" that's better for turning over the heavy streamer. I use tapered leaders pretty much exclusively for dry flies. I will usually get the three pack Rio Trout leaders at wholesale sports for $12.
  6. I have dealt with Curtis many times. Good guy, knows his stuff. Has given me lots of advice about chucking streamers. Great shop. Easily my favorite in the city.
  7. To the best of my knowledge, which is extremely limited, yes.
  8. Well said Rick. I've been trying to get some of my friends into fly fishing, hoping to share my limited knowledge with them. All to no avail. One of my friends moved back to Edmonton, the other, to the Grand Caymans. Never had a chance to "teach" either of them to fly fish, though one did mention a feigning interest in it, but needs shoulder surgery, so he kept opting out. Then he moved away. I now have to wait for my kids to grow up a tad more so I can teach them. That, is definitely something that I am looking forward to.
  9. Ok....currently its +3 in YELLOWKNIFE and -6 in Calgary. WTF?!?!?
  10. X1.....er......X2......X3? Screw it......me too!
  11. Rule #45 - Winter ALWAYS lasts longer than you want it to.
  12. Thanks Rick. As if i wasn't looking forward to the spring already. My mind filled with all the same thoughts, mostly. Gives me lots more to think about.
  13. Tip # 67 If its on the Internet, there's porn of it.
  14. Tip #69 - Never leave fish, to find fish.
  15. Just don't expect it to be 100% better the next day! I did, and still had the pain. It was a major "WTF?" moment. Anti-inflamatories and time, much better.
  16. I've said my piece. I think I'm done with the topic for now. Don't even get me started on the "only two games left against the Oilers" comment. lol
  17. Shaw employee huh? Can you get me a better deal on my TV/PHONE/INTERNET?
  18. Sadly, the music on your ipod/iphone only mimic what's on your computer. You can't pull music from the ipod/iphone and upload it to a new computer, you can only download. So, you need to take ALL the music from your old computer and upload it to your new one. However, I am sure there are plenty of other computer geniuses out there that will have a program or an app that will allow you to do what you want to. I'm just not one.
  19. Clearly, you were watching the game with rose coloured glasses on. He was in the process of going to the net, and Staios took out his feet! He didn't even argue the call. He knew he didn't touch the puck or play it at all, took out his feet and tripped him. I'd make that same call every single time. You don't touch the puck, you get called. Penalty. Period.
  20. Didn't see the Gio play, but I did see the Staios play. That was the RIGHT call. I won't say that it should have been a penalty shot, but he should have had the penalty regardless. Sure Staios "tried" to play the puck, but he didn't. Didn't even touch it. Had he touched it, then there would have been no call.
  21. great service, knowledgeable staff - 1) Fish Tales 2) SouthBow 3) Honda West Just thought I'd throw that out there.....
  22. Ya. That was kinda what I thought. WHAT was I thinking......
  23. Giraffe's ARE cruel animals! And freaky too....
  24. I haven't carried my wallet in my back pocket for almost 15 years now. Ever since my buddies dad, who had major back problems from being a plumber, told him not to do it and he, in turn, told me.
