  1. Ya Rick I had a "Light Bulb" Moment with my father passing away last June. Memories and adventures are the best thing you can leave behind for your children. Me and my Dad had many.
  2. Vaga Im glad to hear you went with a water master. I did some research this winter also and found the water master to be the best craft in that class. When it comes to inflatables there really is a HUGE difference in how they are constructed and the materials used and that makes an incredible difference in life span and durability. I also decided on a water master however in the end I decided to purchase a larger boat so the family can come along on the bow river. You made a great choice. I like the design of the flycraft but I also have questions about the construction and materials. At the Fly fishing show this winter there was two dealers selling the same design of inflatables one was Water Master the other I wont use their name but Water Master was $1000.00 more for a similar design however it was easy to see why. The difference in construction and materials was obvious.
  3. Global warming
  4. I don't know about Chinese PVC apposed to others but I have heard not all are created equal and that they tear different. For example some once a tear starts will just keep going like when you tear the side of a chip bag but others if you tear them will remain the size of the original tear for a while allowing you some time to get it repaired. This PVC looks fabric reinforced I think it would be the kind that stands up to a tear? I don't know. I think 3500 is a good price compared to some of the one man open floor smaller boats out there that run around $2000 (fully tricked out). As long as the materials and construction is quality I think 3500 is good. IMO it would be a great boat for several Alberta streams soon we might see a boat or two drifting down the crow wouldn't that be nice :$*%&:
  5. Beavers although don't attack humans will attack your dog they are commonly known for dragging dogs under water to their death. So keep an eye on Rover if Beavers are around. There are otters on a small Southern Alberta stream I fish. I see them eating fish all the time but it hasn't seemed to effect the population however; a lot of residents (ranchers) on this stream keep over their limit and eat everything they catch and by the end of the season it doesn't fish well but every spring new fish move in from a larger river down stream of this tributary and the fishing is great till mid August. In this case humans are the issue not otters. Thanks for the heads up Don ill be sure to carry my Otter spray in the future.
  6. The river is open from Harveys passage to carsland weir all year round that is basically from the 17th AVE bridge in Calgary to the town of Carseland. I don't know what the regs are for keeping fish in this area I think they change throughout the season. If you just release all the fish you catch this wont be a problem. Where you are fishing is open.
  7. that was so awesome.
  8. Really It is a matter of convenience if it's after work I'm launching my jet at police because its close. If I'm putting in a full day chances are I'll be lower. But from police to Mac there is some really great water that might be the " problem"
  9. My buddy caught one on the bow last year that could swallow a young child I think I posted a pic of it last year
  10. It will be interesting to see the improvements they make this year. I joined the ranks of the jet boats this year it's going to be interesting to see how this effects traffic on the lower stretch. Might be nice and quiet.
  11. Is there a way to post pictures with out resizing through an internet service? I know how to do it through the internet so I don't need help with that. Problem is I always forget how to do it, then I have to relearn how, I never remember my passwords and it becomes such a hassle I just don't post. Is there a better way so that I can just transfer from my PC. I run a Mac if that makes a difference. Is there a way for the administrators to modify the forum to make it easier? Thanks
  12. The dark ones will work great right now or in a couple weeks depending on water temps. The yellow or orange ones will work great late June early July especially if you dip them in the crow. The dries will work to imitate lots of types of bugs for dry stones my favorite patterns are the ones that have a low hanging abdomen where the body hangs below the surface and I gink only the hair to keep things afloat. Also if your fishing it as a stone take a black marker and color just the tip of the butt black.

    Bone/bull

There goes Brian again naming fishing spots on a public forum Honolulu is ruined forever...... Nice fish CF8 that bull is really thick.
  14. My dream fishing is stones on the Bow. DOUBLE RAINBOW ALL THE WAY!
  15. the bank is scrubbed pretty clean there down to bed rock and the bank is really high now big deep back eddy up stream a ways.
  16. The company I work for does this kind of work but not for residential properties. There are a lot of systems out there make sure they use a product that uses the water to set up and will "chase" the water to the source. Make sure they are drilling holes at an angle down both sides of the crack and using a pump to inject to get to the back side of the crack or you're going to be fixing it again in 3 to 5 years.
  17. great video your nails are painted the color of my favorite panther martin lure
  18. Elbow River would definitely not be my first choice there is good access but it just isn't very productive. I have caught some great fish on the Elbow and had good days (mostly in the fall) but if I had a choice of five rivers similar distance apart it would be my last choice. If you live in Calgary the majority of your fishing will likely be on the Bow and if you have time to get away further you would be better served going to the Highwood, Livingstone, Oldman or Crow. Only thing I dislike about living in the south is the extra 45min it takes me to drive to Banff or K Lakes area.
  19. Im looking forward to pictures of another one of your builds.
  20. I would consider the south of Calgary most of the great Alberta streams are SW Alberta out HWY 22 or S on #2. If you were in Glamorgan you would be a 25 min drive through Calgary before you get out of town. Also if you bought in the south you would be close to the Lower Bow where it would be 5 min to the river and you will have many more opportunities to fish in the evenings. With the ring road completed to the south the commute to other parts of the city is much faster now.
  21. Love mine going on three years of hard abuse and no problems at all except the smell
  22. ha ha you would then have a bugger at both ends of the rod taco.
  23. You are stuck with pretty much the Bow the Crow and the Old Man till June 16. The three are worth fishing as for the other streams that open June 16th you couldn't fish them all in a lifetime. I have gone on many explorations and honestly I have always found fish and never been disappointed. However my one true love is the Bow River when ever I take a day to fish else where I question why I traveled 200km to fish when I have one of the worlds best in my back yard. If I stray from the Bow its not about the fish its about finding beautiful places. If you explore the hills west of Calgary you will see things that will blow your mind. Welcome.
  24. Awesome!
