  1. Thanks Chris! P
  2. Well... Not according to Yvon's autobiography... But realistically, maybe more of a "responsible" or "sustainable" profit (but yes, profit nonetheless)... P
  3. Your right, I stand corrected!! Though how much TP do you use with the "after effects" of eating said bread bowl of chile!! Somehow with me it always goes in the direction of talking $hit, eh!! LoL P
  4. In this day and age, I think "programs like this" are compulsory!! Add to the fact that they shouldn't even hesitate to be industry leaders and be the 1st to offer biodegradable cups/utensils/plates/bags, etc. and if that technology isn't available spear head the development of that technology (much like Patagonia/Madden Mills did with recycled fleece - not a direct plug for Patagonia, but nonetheless). If there is not a market, create a market!! P
  5. Good point... Dedicated "small creek" only kit (so 7' - 7'6" rod - again knowing that not having/casted the rod is a whole other complication). P
  6. I guess I didn't want to complicate things by listing specific manufactures (as with opinions on rods, I'm sure most have opinions/preferences on reel manufactures). I'm also aware that the fact that I'm looking for reels at 4 oz (or lighter) limits the options... That being said, I am not weathy by any means so would want to be conscious of cost (again further limiting my options)... So nebc, your suggestion/opinion is to for-go the (slight) weight advantage for backing/line cap., quality of drag, etc. Thanks for your input. P
  7. So I am saving up for a 3 wt next year and have been researching reels.. I want to keep it quite light weight (4 oz or under for the reel) at the same time retain a large arbor design... So here are my observations relating to saving a few oz/grams... I notice with most manufacturers within a particular model, will suite a range of line weights, i.e., 1 - 3, 3 - 5, etc. (taking into account the capacity will be effected as the 3 - 5 would have a slightly larger backing/line capacity, but at a slightly higher weight - which I know is an issue with some manufactures, i.e. Orvis). So do I look at getting a reel (presuming same model here) in the 1 - 3 range or the 3 - 5 range to save a few oz/grams? The obvious flaw is that I might purchase the reel prior to the rod so this inquiry would be separate from the rod's overall balance... P
  8. As the photo shows, I guess it works just fine with a "standard" sized tippet spool... Not sure why it wouldn't work on something as big as a Maxima spool, as the tag end goes through the hole to keep it from unraveling... I'll try it out tonight and let you know... As Dune pointed out to me yesterday, his exp. when using zip ties is that you get a sharp end when they are cut off... If that's the case then just melt it down to form a smooth surface... P
  9. After seeing an American television commercial last night (facts included in the commercial, not reseached on my own)... I guess even if they use "recycled" paper to produce the cups, the cups themselves are not "recyclable" b/c they use some type of a waterproof (wax?) coating... Therefore, even if there was a deposit charged, they would just go into a landfill (or ditch, school yard, etc.)... P
  10. But a ton of quads, rv's and red necks! LoL P
  11. So what you are saying is we are all being sadly mislead to believe that "every little bit helps"?! I guess I'm throwing out my rose coloured lenses (and my travel mug)... P
  12. And of course most smokers drink crappy Tim Horton's Coffee!! We have now completed the cycle P
  13. Said kids should then pay for the damage!! I hope Ben is ok?! BTW, not planning on having any!! P
  14. Dune! Don't forget about all the smokers that toss their butts!! P
  15. Yeah!! I never grew out of the "young and broke" stage!! I'm now old(er) and more broke!! LoL P
  16. Nice work! It has "NFB" written all over it!! Cheers, P
  17. Hiking and backpacking (especially to remote backcountry lakes), backcounty skiing, cross country skiing, (resort) snow boarding, canoeing, foreign/alternative/independent cinema, international (adventure) travel (just got back from a trip to India, previous destinations include: Australia, NZ, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, England, Turkey, Greece, Colombia, Equador, Mexico).
  18. Well then you should just give up your bike and drive a car like normal people!! Sheesh!! P P.S. Just kidding!
  19. I agree Kurt! People need to start using their own mugs (not sure why some do not - at other coffee establishments you actually get a discount, not sure about Timmy Ho's as I don't drink their swill LoL). P
  20. Hmmm... This was an "incentive" for people to donate to you (or was that not clearly stated in the original post - I'll have to read it again)!! *Edit*, yeah you clearly stated "my donation site"!! On the other hand he is still donating to the overall cause (same team, different member)... I say he can be included, but if he wins he's disqualified and the rod goes to me!! LoL P P.S. Just kidding!
  21. I was scrolling through some old "Midcurrent" articles and came upon this neat tip, so I decided to share it! http://www.midcurrent.com/news/2009/08/zm-...r-zip-ties.html I would add that you can colour code them especially if you use similar brands (like Maxima ultragreen). P
  22. R No worries P
  23. Sorry, I should have said each additional insert... P
  24. I think the boots are around $180 plus about $29 each for the inserts... P
