Teck, so are you saying you don't like the rod or line? P
-
The New Fly Fisher had an episode a few years ago highlighting sight fishing for carp in Wyoming... Looked pretty cool! When we visit Deb's parents in Oliver BC, I always see lots of carp jumping in Tuc-el-Nuit Lake (the lake loacated within the town). Next time we go, I'm bring my rods which means I probably need to invest in a 8 or 9 wt as a 6 wt probably wouldn't cut it!! P

Jer, Maybe take a look at some of the (whitewater) rafts 13' or 14', a bit more stability and room for more then 2/3 people + gear. Plus you can use them with or with out a fishing frame... Outcast has a couple that can be ordered/available locally, as well as dealers such as NRS in the States. If the CND$ remains high, it might be worth while... I think "Dino" had one in the past so he might be a good resource... Of course you'll be looking at $4000 - $5000 so in that case you might want to consider a drift boat!! LoL Just my $.02. P

Marc, That's exactly the point! That's why Wind came in with so much excitement, but I'm sure the "wind" will get blown out their sails pretty quickly as they are only in the major urban centres and already have phone incompatibilities (can only use their phones). So they are not much of an option either at this point in time, I'm afraid!! P

Bruce, nice rods, but a little bit outta my price range!! About $400 outta my price range, actually!! P
-
Beat ya to it Murray!! Already bringing mine!! But you can bring some juice and cream (Bailey's)?! LoL P
-
Hey Steve, Welcome! Medium action probably go with a standard weight line as opposed to overlining it, but that could depend on your casting style. Fishtales has some of the last years Rio Selective trout II on sale for $40 and I have it on a med action 8'6" beulah 4wt and like it a lot!! *edit* I also have a new reel loaded up with 4 wt Rio Gold and will try this out this coming dry season... I will be using the selective trout II primarily for back country lake fishing and the gold on the Bow. P

Brad, What are were you smoking while on your lunch break?! Bell Communications Enterprises (BCE) and BCT/Telus Communications (see below) are two totally separate companies!! (insert GPT ) Name: BCT.Telus Communications Inc. - Headquarters: Burnaby, B.C., and Edmonton - The market: Local, long-distance and cellular service in British Columbia and Alberta, with plans to sell data services to companies across Canada - Foreign ownership: GTE Corp. of Stamford, Conn., will hold 26.7 per cent - Assets: $8.2 billion - Stock market value: $10 billion - Annual revenue: $5.7 billion - Employees: 25,000 vs. The BCE subsidiary Bell Canada has moved into new industries via new divisions such as Bell Internet, an Internet service provider; Bell Mobility, a cellular wireless service now operating in most Canadian provinces; Bell TV, one of Canada's two national satellite television providers; Bell Home Monitoring, a new division announced in February 2007; and Bell Distribution. BCE also owns 15% of CTVglobemedia, one of Canada's largest privately held media companies which owns the CTV Television Network, the /A\ television system, The Globe and Mail, and the CHUM Radio Network, as well as other (primarily television) media assets. It also operates retail stores, as simply the Bell Store (formerly BellWorld in English Canada and Espace Bell in Quebec, and prior to 1999, the Bell Phonecentre/Téléboutique Bell). In mid 2009, BCE extended its ownership of Virgin Mobile Canada from 50% to 100%. BCE also bought The Source by Circuit City (which was renamed after the sale to The Source) and all assets of InterTAN from bankrupt Circuit City.

Holy Sh*t Chris, you're alive!! P

Interesting that you can bring a musical instrument onboard (though depending on size - at least that was the case when I was working in the airline industry - guitars not likely as they won't fit in the overhead compartment and can't be stored anywhere else onboard) and not a fishing rod(s)! I guess one would want to make sure you get extra baggage insurance (or a separate rider under your home insurance!)! Thanks for posting this info Dave! P

Wow! He has all his sponsors in that photo!! LoL! P

This was mine from a few weeks ago!! http://flyfishcalgary.com/board/index.php?...l=Arc'teryx P

Thanks Murray, that's what I think I might do... Cheers, P
-
Rick, I'm definitely interested (and can help)! P
-
Thanks boys! P
-
Gang, This may seem like a newbie question and in a way it is (as I've never actually test driven rods before)... Should I be bringing a reel all loaded up for me to use, or will the retailers/rod reps have reels already pre loaded for me to try?! P
-
Yeah something like that!! We'll talk! P
-
Thanks Mike, but you totally knew that already, didn't you?! P
-
Thanks for all the info boys! If I could afford grass that would be the cat's ass, but unfortunately not in this life time (maybe Deb will buy me one for a wedding present?!) See you on the small streams! P
-
Thanks for your input mang! But as I already mentioned in my original post... as I'm hoping to cast a number of these rods at the show LoL P
-
Ok... I'm now just a tad confused... Jack, you say a short fast rod is easier, and Max says ("but if u just want too barely hit it and feather it in there get a slower rod...") a short medium is easier?! Or is what you are saying, a short fast is easier for "longer" casts?! Huh?! P
-
Thanks Max! P
