Anybody do this as a hobby or know any one that does... Looking at getting some fiberglass painted (simple one colour/2 or 3 coats).... Been quoted $700 +... Can hand paint it for less then $50, but not sure how it's going to look afterwards... Piece has been filled and sanded... You are welcome to PM me directly for more details. Thanks, Peter

Tile Layer For Bathroom Renovation Needed
ÜberFly replied to a topic in General Chat - Not Fishing Related (NFR)
Yeah, my sis & bro-in-law needed to do some repairs for a leak in a bathroom for one of their suites they rent out and hired a "friend of a friend", who would have been a great guy I'm sure if he didn't walk away with their deposit as he was a meth addict (who knew!), as well had some issues installing a sump pump with (the former company- which I understand from some recent news spots, has re named the company) "Hire a Husband" - got taken with them as well!! Beware and do your homework! Get references and follow-up with those references! P -

Small Stores Are Worth Their Weight In Gold!
ÜberFly replied to Wolfie's topic in General Chat - Fly Fishing Related
Marc, You are right... But it just left such a bad taste in my mouth as all I ever heard before going in was how great the customer service was... I'll go in again some day (I'll have to pack a lunch though ) P -

Of course any good retail sales associate should know how to approach a "potential" customer with respect and with undue pressure (notice, I said "should" as 95% don't know how, but seeing that small specialty shops should have highly trained staff, you'd expect that...). Any way, one should at least be "greeted" (acknowledged) when they come in, no?! P -

Wow! You're right! They don't move very quickly!! That document was published in 2003 and the committee formed in 2006!! They're really hard at work! P -

FYI, the fly shops (and others) in the Crowsnest have a grass roots group organized and are trying to take a proactive approach... Don't have much info, but there is strength in numbers... P -

Was there for ~ 1/2 hour!! In that amount of time, you'd expect that someone would inquire about a potential customers needs, wants desires (that's retail)... It's not a big store! P -

Unfortunately, I've had the exact opposite experience there! I was ignored the 1st and only time I've been there (and the place was dead)... Haven't been back... Another factor in me not going back is that the store is located in the opposite end of town so not so convenient for me (but that is besides the point)... Now Country Pleasures on the other hand has given me a great exp. Brent and Caitlin (whom I usually deal with) are always chatty and professional even when I don't buy anything (which is most of the time )! P -
Yeah I was a little ways away and wasn't able to ask them to clarify... maybe that's what the one guy meant... Thanks Marc! P

Gang, I over heard some guys talking today about a rod manufacturer that will replace a broken rod the next day anywhere in the world... Who is this "Rolls Royce" of rod manufacturers?! Peter

7' 3 wt or 8' 4 wt for small streams are my recos... Just because if you are in a tight space or you need a very delicate cast, you'll be happy, anything longer (for small streams) and you'll spend more time getting your fly out of the trees/bushes. Bow or flat water, totally different story and 8'6' or 9' would be the ticket for sure! But go try it for yourself before you drop the dough, that way you'll see what I'm talk'in about P

Where are you getting them developed, WalMart?! Any of the people that I know that are prof photographers go to Vistek and places like that for the contact sheets and all speak very highly of the development at those places (or have their own darkrooms)... On a similar note, when they shoot digital, they shoot Nikon, but each to his or her own... P -

Pipes, Though I do not have experience with this product, years ago I was involved in aquatics, as well as the "hot tub/spa" industry and there has been similar technology (on the commercial side) used in those industries for many years... The main draw back with the (commercial) technology as I was taught/told, was that it is indeed effective but only within a specific time frame as the strength of the UV bulb quickly becomes weaker with age (not sure on the exact figures or time frame, but was shown not to be as effective for very long after the initial start up). I would think that with the decrease in the strength of the battery in the "Steri-pen" (as well as the "life" of the bulb), it too would lose it's effectiveness even quicker... Again, I must qualify this as I DO NOT have specific info relating to this or expeierence with this product... Though food for thought... Peter

So this is the reply I just received fro AB Tourism, Parks and Recreation. Whether they actually send in a crew to investigate, who knows?! At least I tried to do something (short of cleaning it up myself) and it's on record... P Dear Mr. ÜberFly, Thank you for contacting Alberta Tourism, Parks and Recreation and for bringing this situation to our attention. Our Parks division will be investigating your complaint in partnership with Alberta Sustainable Resource Development. We hope to conduct a site visit in the near future to determine exactly which lands have been affected, who is responsible for the area, and what can be done. We hope to provide you with an update on this issue soon. Thank you again for taking the time to share your feedback and concerns with us. Your input will help us create better experiences for all visitors. Best regards, Erin Larson Public Affairs Officer Alberta Tourism, Parks and Recreation
