  1. Latest update - my sister-in-law has heard indirectly that the search has been stopped and it is now a recovery operation, but this has not been confirmed.
  2. The latest update... Father-in-law spoke breifly to my bro-in-law as he went down this morning to help with the search... Cell coverage is sketchy so the conversation was broken-up and cut short. Thus far we think that Jeff's fishing gear has been recovered and PFD found floating - NOT GOOD signs. Cell phone cut out, but there was some conversation (cut out in mid-sentance), to some effect that there might have been a body recovered. I'll try to get more info updated as it becomes more clear/available. P
  3. Thanks for the offer, but I'm not too sure what's happening, I'm trying to get an update, but I'm a few people removed from the situation... I'll try to post info as soon as I can... I've also tried to google a police report, etc. from the weekend, but haven't been able to find anything thus far... Cheers, P
  4. Gang, I've just returned from dinner at my sister-in-law/brother-in-law's place and have learned of a disturbing incident that happened/is happening at Police Outpost... A good friend of theirs - Jeff (and avid fly fisher) went out to P O L Friday afternoon to fish (from his kayak). He was supposed to have returned yesterday late afternoon/early evening and he hasn't been heard from. I guess F & W, RCMP have found his van in the campground but from what I understand no Jeff (not sure if they have found his kayak or not)... Please share a positive thought and/or prayer for Jeff, his family and friends... I will keep you all posted on what info becomes available (from what I hear from my sis-in-law/bro-in-law). Thanks, Peter
  5. Yeah - no!! It's a myth!! But they have the turbo flush ones here and they are the *hit (literally and figuratively ) Worth the extra $. Sorry I don't know the technical name for them but talk to a plumber or someone at Benners or anywhere other then Home Depot/Revy and they should be able to set you (me) straight! P
  6. Hey Lornce (SilverDoctor) you are a professional designer, you should be able to throw something together in your sleep - pro bono of course ?! P
  7. Which ever model you get, get the one with the "Turbo" flush option (like they have in Australia and NZ). I think it's the one Lynn is referring to... P
  8. So I wanted to follow-up with this story as I recieved a letter in today's mail from Minister Ady. "...I have asked staff to review the signage and waste disposal requirements at this location, and to make recommendations to ensure proper management of this site in the future, In addition, I have requested that Conservation Officers make regular patrols to islands along the Bow River that are frequented by boaters to ensure this situation does not occur in the future." Nice gesture for her to follow-up, so we'll see if indeed anything does happen, but with the funding cuts, etc., I doubt there is in fact enough staff... Peter
  9. Duh, of course!! Still half asleep!! P
  10. I'm sure you know this already, but be reminded that the NW section of the Bow is now closed (Oct 1 - Nov 30)! Fishing is better in the south anyway P
  11. I don't disagree with you (but I am not a guide), but I hear the proverbial can of worms opening! P
  12. Wow, pretty stacked up at the put in, eh!! Great vid! Nice work! P
  13. For a neoprene repair you can use aquaseal like previously mentioned or a rubber patch used for a bike tube then send it away during the off season... Also, I think MEC sells some stuff to repair neoprene in their boating section. P
  14. Wolfie! "What are you smokin'"?! LoL Maybe if someone was living directly above a meth or crack lab, they might be effected, but for the other reasons listed, not even close to being possible!! Gotta good chuckle, though, so thanks for that, at least!! P P.S. This reminded me of a training class I was once when working in the airline industry... So this guy asked the instructor (completely out of the blue) that he heard that if all the planes in the world faced in the same direction and all started their engines at the same time, it would effect the rotation of the earth. Was on the floor laughing about that one!!
  15. Wow! In another thread on this site, someone had organized a group event of camping and fishing. Anyway, within the thread someone else had mentioned how they used one of the members "homemade" bait and how successful he was... I checked the regs for where they were fishing and there is a bait ban... Wow! P P.S. Canadensis, definitely complaining about that!!
  16. Duane, yeah, kinda!!
  17. Opinions are like A$$holes, everybody has one... In searching the net this aft I came upon this forum (I'm sure some of you are even contibutors)... Interesting attitudes/opinions... http://www.outdoorsmenforum.ca/showthread.php?t=37813 P
  18. Geeeze Duane... One week you are telling me how busy you are, then I call to invite you out for a coffee and you're golfing... The same week you are reseaching/posting Youtube vids... Sheesh!! LoL P P.S. Love that one!!
  19. Rick always says how much of a "Sexy beast" Taco is!!
  20. You are wrong (can you handle it )!! Though if you were in a crash, etc., and it was determined that you were on your cell, texting, putting on make-up, eating your breakfast, etc., you would be fined for inattentive driving... But currently no "specific" regulations/laws pretaining to driving while talking on a cell phone... P
  21. That's what you get when you allow the "RV'ing" crowd to park over night!! P
  22. Bro-in-law has some REALLY nice Coho replicas out at the cabin in the Shuswap... Can get you the name of the artist if you'd like... From what I was told they were SUPER expensive ~ $1000 + (but look life like). Lemme know. Peter
  23. Why don't a bunch of us head down the beginning of next summer and picket the highway. We can invite the media, MLA, MP, etc. and most likely (and unintentionally) get into some fights as I'm sure it would definitely stir up some *hit!! Hey it works across the pond and for Greenpeace!! P
