  1. well well. 'em r some nice browns. ya gotta be please with that for a day's work. maybe someday i will reach 30" it seems to be a gold standard. i lost i nice big fat slab last night, he was close.
  2. was the brown 'the one'?
  3. so i ate the 100 in warranty charges i've had over the last year and got a full refund for my original purchase price [note the axiom has gone up in price since i purchased]. i doubt i'll ever purchase another tfo product. whatever. with the proceeds i purchased a 'never seen the water' 6 wt sage fli and lamson reel w/ line and rio versatip. private sale online. should have it in a few days. new toys, i can't wait to play with them.
  4. yup - i have done that before, that's what i suspect did in my vps a year ago - a huge streamer collision and a few casts later, snap. that's understandable. but that's simply not been the case with this tfo.
  5. funny that's where mine has broken this time. huh.
  6. baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh!
  7. hey- 1 year ago i purchased a tfo axiom 6wt as my 10 yr old sage vps was in for a broken tip [user error]. i needed a good value stick & fast as i was heading out on a trip for a week, also i had been looking for a good second rod for a bit. i cast a few other at the time [loomis, reddington, etc.] and for the $$ was impressed by this rod. it also had a different action than my vps, and i found i cast it very well. on it's frst outing the tip section broke off. i thought hmmm maybe something i had done - never having owned a 4 pce before...maybe a didn't ensure it was tight & the tip got loose. so anyways i warranty replaced it and away i went. so a couple weeks ago the tip section broke again while i was landing a fish. this is now the 4th time i have broken a tip section of this rod. wtf? the only times i have ever needed to replace something on my other rods has been my own fault, but this rod has now cost me @ hundred bucks in warranty charges and i can se no reasonable explaination as to why. not a happy camper. n e ways, the shop did call springbrook and explained my situation, and said i was not happy. springbrook has offered to credit my original purchase price. a complete replacement axiom is also on the table. that's all good, and i truly don't want to be an ass about this with anyone, but here's the thing: -i actually liked the tfo rod and cast it well, but i'm quite frankly a little gun shy after it's durability performance -the axiom series has gone up in price since last year [huh?] -i'm into this rod for the orig. price plus my warranty charges now - i coulda stepped up a price point at the time and got something else, but chose this one for the bang for the buck [ha] -i know that this rod gets good reviews and i liked it and all, but part of me thinks enough is enough, and get something else. right now i think tfo needs to step up a little bit more than just offering a replacement, but i doubt that is in the cards. i'm flummoxed. do i: take the money and run away and buy a different rod [and walk away from my 100 on warranty charges]? take a replacement and hope that i don't have another run of whatever bad things have happened to this one? if i do and it breaks again, i keep throwing the $30 warranty charges at it? what would you do? opinions? advice? sage wisdom?
  8. i know that overall the reservoirs in the bow valley need some rain as well, and soon. without it may be a challenging summer for fish and people.
  9. as an extremely rare treat my daughters offered to come with me to the lake for a few hours. we had fun and fooled around a bit, nothing much was happeneing on the surface so i trolled a few patterns as they tried to row the boat - mostly in circles. started seeing some very subtle takes every once in a while and i switched up to a little mayfly emerger [i let my youngest pick the fly]. good call. not the best pic but it was @ 24-25", and a really really good scrap. lots of long deep runs & jumps. my oldest picked the fly out of his snout and the catch & release was a group effort. thanks girls that was a special fathers day gift. only downside to the evening is the tip section on my tfo axiom broke yet again - this is the fifth time. it's a nice rod to cast but - wtf - seriously 5 times????? never ever had so many issues with a rod before.
  10. love the new look. like the fishies instead of the folder icons. also woulda bought some ffc gear 'cept for the line drawing logo does not reproduce that well.
  11. i think my olympus is broken then... wow. great pix.
  12. this thread is fierce. good work. and someone finally mentioned cake and there was no follow up?
  13. i'd have to agree. i think there's a good educational opportunity at times with some pix and that's good [that seems to have eventually come forward here re: gators], but i've stopped posting many pictures as perhaps the fish posture, netting procedures, amount of water, location, etc. could be percieved as being less than ideal...frankly when you are alone & trying to take a photo it usually isn't anyways. but/and then you get comments about useless posts without pictures? sigh.
  14. great fish - congrats!
  15. i was on the street for 2 months, hear ya re: the stress. i ran across a good number of it related roles in my searches [not what i wanted]. suggest making contact with s.i. systems : s.i. systems calgary i hooked up with them briefly they are a with-the-program recruiter with good staff.
  16. second that. i like a country-ish vibe on trip out, but not what gets played on "country radio" - more along the corb lund, blue rodeo, old johnny, hank sr., merle, willie, neil's country leanings...uncle tupelo, neko case, kathleen edwards, whiskeytown works too. and ya can't beat the hip for a if not a crowd pleaser than a usually gets tolerated by a wide x-section[anyone got any comments about the new hip btw?] but once i'm out on the water nothing beats silence, cept for uberfly's 80's hair-metal karaoke
  17. mmmmmmmmmmmmm, broooooooookies....
  18. once. so far. i was set free second week of march. i'm not in o&g but it was definitely as a result of the current economic uncertainty. my wife works in o&g related recruiting and she's hearing lots of that sorta story right now, good news is it seems to be stabilizing out there...her biz seems to be picking up a bit. i start a new gig on tuesday.
  19. personality malfunctions are commonplace i find...but i'm still always shocked when i encounter peeps like this. my reactions to this really depend on many factors, but if it bothers me enough i will speak first, give the opportunity for the person to respond. there are lots of people who just don't know any better and are willing to listen. if it's a problem for me i have done everything from simply packing up & moving on to ensuring the fish are well aware that a new angler has arrived, to having a good old fashioned screaming match. but that's not really why i go fishing so usually it's the high road. happened last week - person shows up, no communication, steps into the run far too close, etc etc. sigh. a little respect and a 'hello' goes a hell of a long way.
  20. nice fish congrats!
  21. now that is my kind of running team!
  22. not to me, just always wondered what flavour the majority was.
