Tako Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 I'm from BC but I'll throw in some pics from my stay in AB this summer. My first westslope cutty trip. Landed about 20 cutties, and 3 bulls. Brookies from a coalmine area stream Quote
SteveM Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 Nice pics, Tako; thanks for sharing. Feel free to throw up some B.C. pics; we have no predjudice against B.C. fish( of course, we may have to pay an extra $20 per day just to look at 'em, if they're from classified waters!). Quote
Tako Posted January 19, 2008 Posted January 19, 2008 Nice pics, Tako; thanks for sharing. Feel free to throw up some B.C. pics; we have no predjudice against B.C. fish( of course, we may have to pay an extra $20 per day just to look at 'em, if they're from classified waters!). You won't have to pay extra to fish these, I've never fished a CW in my life. An epic day in a provincial park Typical rainbows And the best river of all Quote
hydropsyche Posted January 19, 2008 Posted January 19, 2008 OK, twist my arm You won't have to pay extra to fish these, I've never fished a CW in my life. Correction. We'd still have to pay 100% more then you. Really beauty pics, Tako. Exceptional. Quote
esleech Posted January 19, 2008 Posted January 19, 2008 Hey Tako, what kind of fish is that? I'm referring to the one you have in a lip grip. Chub? Quote
Hawgstoppah Posted January 19, 2008 Posted January 19, 2008 Looks like a squawfish. I got those by the boatload trying to catch a trout from a dock on a cabin on Okanagan Lake several years ago. Quote
Tako Posted January 19, 2008 Posted January 19, 2008 Looks like a squawfish. I got those by the boatload trying to catch a trout from a dock on a cabin on Okanagan Lake several years ago. Correct. But you can't call them that anymore. It's offensive The gov't changed the name to "Northern Pikeminnow" Which I think is absurd, because they're not a northern species, they're not a pike, and as you can see, they aren't minnows! Quote
Hawgstoppah Posted January 20, 2008 Posted January 20, 2008 LOL..... *sigh* I hate all this politically correct horshe shYt.. I'm gonna start bitching about whitefish then. I find it offensive to have a fish named after *MY* people. Quote
Guest bigbadbrent Posted January 20, 2008 Posted January 20, 2008 i remember fishing with my uncle near kamloops, and he thought squawfish were fine for eating (doesn't know a thing about fishing), and he caught probably a good 2 dozen. Brought them back to the dock, and put them on the dock and ran to the cabin, while my grandfather assessed the catch, and consequently began throwing the dead fish back into the lake, just as my uncle comes running out full speed screaming at him to stop there are huge rewards down in the states for catching them, like 4 bucks a fish for less then a hundred, 5 for between 500 and 100, and 6 for over 500 fish..thats a lot of money, and squawfish aren't exactly hard to catch Quote
