  1. I just bought a pair of regular G3 Guides back in June. I was a bit afraid of dropping almost $500 on waders considering I fish in places where the bush is pretty heavy. Well, needless to say they stood up to the test and passed with flying colors. If you're a bit careful bushwacking , crossing fences, crawling over rocks/logs etc., these are great waders. Very comfortable and worth every dollar spent. Go to the Simms main page and read the reviews on each.
  2. Read Bob Scammell's book The Phenological Fly. Wild roses mean golden stones, most of the wild roses are finished blooming for the year.Being the Freeman in the Swan Hills, I'd guess you probably missed it by 1-2 weeks. It also depends on elevation, the goldens hatch late July through early August in the high country. It's pretty much hit and miss when you chase stoneflies.
  3. Just a bit of a correction to this point...1000ppm does not mean instant death. You will lose consciousness immediately, in fact this will happen at 700ppm. Your body will shut down and you'll have to be rescued and revived within 4 to 6 minutes. Just a little info, the word was that the concentration of H2S in the pipeline was 1%...1% = 10,000ppm.
  4. Good luck, I hate to tell you this but your fishing is going to be put on the back burner for quite a while. When my 2 kids were born I was lucky to get out once or twice a whole season. Your priorities need to be set and unfortunatly fishing is not one of them right now.
  5. It is a pain in the ass. I had this done to the 68 Camaro in my avatar, an original BC car that's now street legal and registered here. A freind did most of the work on it, and his friend did the inspection. If I remember correctly, the friend charged me $900 for labour to make it road worthy (was an old bracket racing car) and the inspection was around $300. It had to go back twice, and was missing 1 small item the second time. The mechanic passed it anyway which was lucky for me. If they're interested in keeping their licenses, they usually won't let anything slide.
  6. I don't get the "extinct for 50 years" thing. I remember, and I do have on tape somewhere, an episode of Fishing The West with Larry Schoenborn. It would have been from the 80s and they were at Pyramid Lake catching these things. Now I have to dig through my old VHS collection and find this episode.
  7. I may have one that takes the cake. I've only been fishing 2 times in June and have yet to catch my first fish of the season.
  8. The law states that there has to be a PFD for every person in the boat but like Robert said, they do absolutly nothing if they aren't worn. Who in their right mind thinks that a person will have the composure to retrive and put on a PFD if the boat capsises, especially if they can't swim. This so called "law" has to change.
  9. You said it Sun...too funny. On the Tanguay side of things, I wonder what his excuse will be this year on his crappy play. It's a good day to be an Oilers fan.
  10. Nice brown but be very carefull.......there might be some people in here that will try to tell you that's a rainbow.
  11. I can't say for sure but it looks like some sort of fish to me.

    New Toy

I love that creek, Frenchman's is definately one of my favourites!
  13. If you won't reveal what you caught him on how about the next best thing...where did you catch him? Good looking rainbow.

    Solved

That may be correct. I've caught quite a few rainbows out of that river (if that background in the2nd picture is where I think it is), that are far more silvery in color than that beast. Beautiful fish by the way.
  15. Made it out for my 3rd trip of the year. Being a new dad really cuts into my fishing time but I have no complaints. Despite the heat had a great day with about 10 browns to hand. My only competition was the family of 4 otters and a Blue Heron that seemed content to always keep one pool ahead of me. Here's a few pics from the day... Beautiful sunny day didn't seem to bother the browns alot Fished stimulators with bead head pheasant tail droppers, ratio was about 50/50 This little guy saw his life flash before his eyes. Just as I was about to net him a huge brown emerged from the depths and thought he had an easy lunch. I've heard of bulls doing this but there was no point tying on a streamer to try to catch him. Once he saw me he was done for the day. This guy taped out at about 16". He was pretty scarred up but was a strong fish. Looked like either an otter or a pike tried to take a bite out of him. Note the heron tracks in the sand.

    Island Cuttie's

Unreal spots on those cutts, almost like a rainbow. Nice pctures.
  17. I've only fished this river once before but I remember that boulder and the pool right by it. There are some nice ones in there for sure.
  18. That's the story I got from the liquor stores in Innisfail. I just bought regular Bud light and put some lime in it. Think I'm cured of that for a while. Good old Pil is #1 in my books anyway.
  19. All in all calgary fans one fact still remains the same........
  20. That's alot of money to spend for a gaurenteed first round playoff exit.
  21. I hate to say this but Horcoff's not going anywhere, at least not this season. No team is going to pick up his 7 million dollar contract (way to go Mr. Lowe). At the end of the season when he gets his usual 20 goals then he can go. He'll need at least 80 points to justify that kind of money and I don't think he has it in him. By the way, who give a crap how many Cups a coach has won? Look at how many Mac T won and where it got his team.
  22. That was the 1988 Olympics by the way. You forgot to mention their ONE Stanley Cup in 1986.
  23. Here we go again, everyone calling for a new coach and then dumping on the choice that was made. It was a good move with 2 big names coming in, so hold your comments and just wait to see what playes out this season.
  24. I picked up a few bottles of SPF80, don't recall the brand, when on vacation a couple of years back. Being fair skinned I try not to mess around too much.
