  1. How big of a fly were you using?
  2. That was Larry Schoenborn from Fishing The West MTB.
  3. He doesn't seem to have the best of luck does he?
  4. Here's a couple of pictures of the Red Deer River from last week.
  5. Almost anyone who sells fishing gear will have it...Canadian Tire, Fishin Hole Wholesale Sports etc.
  6. Whew...big sigh of relief. Now we need a more permanent solution before it floods again.
  7. Yeah you too Glenbow...if the lake is done for the year I'll be dreaming about those bad boys until next year.
  8. Sorry I didn't reply sooner, computer crashed and was in the shop. Went out Thursday the 21st. Started about 9:30am at the boat launch, nothing doing. After lunch went around to Kent Creek, nothing there. Tried about half way across the dam and got 3 big bulls, lost 1 on a big black wooly bugger. Met Glenbow there, he was doing pretty good as well on his suspended leeches. Awesome lake, awesome fish.
  9. Thinking of trying the K-Lakes for the first time on Thursday. Is the lower lake the better one? What do you guys mostly use, floating line, sinking, sink tip? As for flies I read the other post in here, different types of big streamers. Where is the best spot on the lake to catch fish? Any help would be appreciated.
  10. Did any of you ever see the wood carvings of trout in Vic's shop (Crowsnest Angler)? The guy who makes those does a hell of a good job. I imagine if you give him measurements and some good pics he could carve you a nice replica. I asked about them last year and the name they gave me was John Tarcon, but check with Vic again just to make sure.
  11. Read his section in Tips and Advice about catch and release. What a liar.
  12. I may consider it Greg if you need someone to go with
  13. What's not an Athabasca Rainbow Mcleod?
  14. Yeah Greg, Athabascas are the only native rainbows in Alberta. They're native to the Athabasca and upper Peace systems. That's one of the things I'm going to miss living down here...catching those little beauties.
  15. Who ARE those guys??? Those dudes really need to learn proper fish handling techniques. At least the Dimebag Fishermen knew what they were doing.
  16. Try Rainy Ridge Lake or the Barnaby Lakes in the extreme south or Coral Lake and Michele Lakes in west central Alberta. I've never been in there so check out the Alberta Fishing Guide for directions.
  17. Nice video Birchy. We used to catch brookies that big and bigger out of Windy Lake near Swan Hills.
  18. Think of the devastation caused by the Oldman River Dam. We lost the lower Crow, Castle and upper Oldman; 3 of the best trout streams in North America. Even if this new situation is natural, can we afford to put in jeopardy 5 more rivers...all in 1 shot? If this happens we will loose the lower Clearwater, Clear Creek, both the North and South Ravens and the Red Deer tailwater. Let's hope something can be done to prevent this.
  19. By the way, did you see Pronger's wife on the ice after they won? Who in their right mind would screw around on that???
  20. Yeah it would be good to see a team from Alberta win the Cup...as long as it isn't Calgary...I hate the F'in flames!
  21. That's a fricken slab of fish...I guess that's one good thing that came out of Saskatchewan.
