The local shops also support local fly tiers. The supplier up north seems to be an importer from overseas tying houses. Their prices are way too low to be anything else. Just my thoughts.

Backcountry Hunters and Anglers , Alberta Chapter has a call to action on this subject. Visit the website and send your views on this important matter. This is a great conservation organization that has helped with many issues regarding the preservation of public lands.

Tried to post a picture to the forum using the instructions provided above. Took the picture with an iPad. All went well until the file was too large for the site. The instructions were fine until the last step. Do I need photoshop to resize the file or should I use a potato for the camera lens? ( ha ha ) . Thank You.

I have been semi retired for a number of years now so I’m use to the down time in the winter. Up to date on fly tying so it is fun experimenting with some Pike patterns. I like to go for walks each day ( weather permitting) at one of the many parks in and around the Calgary area. There have been many wonderful photography opportunities with a lot less people out and about. Now I want to make a camera upgrade, again. Better think on that for a while. Travel Safely

Maybe Polar Chenille might work. Many colours and sizes to choose from. It lays down nicely and is easy to work with. Adds almost no bulk and sheds water.

If the Pike are that size I will buy a boat and head there. A lot cheaper than flying to far northern lakes. All ready have the rods and tie my own Flies. Usually go on a northern trip every year. Not the same but can go for a day and return home.

When I sit down to tie I will normally make each pattern and size by the dozen or more. This will keep me going for a while. I only have the materials that are needed on the tying table to reduce clutter and mess, this also makes the tying process more efficient. You don’t need to spend more time than you have to.

Yes I am referring to the Ekich Bobbin. In the display box I see the bobbins and the Ekich name plate. It looks just like the ones on their website. Unless I am looking at the wrong add.

I have been thinking about ordering the automatic bobbin as it uses a regular spool so there is no need to reload and have the extra cost of more spools. Maybe should just bite the bullet and find out how well it really works and if it matches up to the Norbobbin. Made in Canada, the quality should be just fine, I will check them out.

Fish Tales carries the Norvise dubbing brush table. I have one and it works well. The table is adjustable so it will work with the height of the vise that you have. It also has a non slip pad on the base so it doesn’t slip around as easily. The table is a good length for one or two brushes. Happy Tying

I have also noticed that you can only see the first page or the last page of a thread by clicking on the last post. Unable to view page by page. Frustrating when trying to follow a topic or look at posts from the past.

A swivel is not needed , your line will be fine. Enjoy the two handed casting. Safe travels .

I am not loyal to a preticular brand and have had good success with the following. Bridgestone Dueler Revo , Wildcountry, B.F.Goodrich All Terrain T/A K02 which are currently in use. All have the snowflake and mountain ratings so no need to make seasonal changes. They are a little noisier on the highway than others but this is the compromise I put up with for the performance off of the pavement and during the winter. The trend patterns are aggressive and will pick up and spit rocks, this is a hazard that I accept to get to those wonderful out of the way spots. Rock chips and cracked windshields are common living in this area, glass insurance is cheaper than paying out of your own pocket. The vehicle I drive is a Jeep. Tight Lines and Travel Safely.

I also use RX Progressive Maui Jim’s. Yes they are pricey , but you get what you pay for. I have never had a problem with them and now have 2 pairs. Always use Chums so they don’t accidentally float away.
