  1. ive u have some experience no reason why u can float right now.. 22x is closed but glenmore and police are open.. have friends who have bin runnin jets all winter... but if u havnt or dont want too be dragging your boat up n over some ice u should float till mid april when all is open.. even then down at mac u will proably halfto winch your boat up n over the 5+' high ive shelves... but it can easily be done... JUST BE SAFE because it is sketchy at times....... if u havnt floated any streatch n are not 100% familiar with it i would recommend not!
  2. i like speys in teh 11'6" - 12'6" range for te bow in a 6 or 7wt.. lights speys are nice too if your looking for more fight with the smaller mid teen n down fish bu ti find they tons toss tips and larger flies aswell as nymph rigs at distance if u have a headwind but its all in teh application as u can see alot of members use different sticks for different reasons.. i like my switch n single hadner for short range but when i want too fish at a distance it is all abotu the 6 n 7wt speys for me!
  3. congrats too proflytyer kyle for winning the january fly of the month!!!!
  4. headscan makes a good point.. if u cant get down my guess would be something in teh 11' ish range should do u fine for what you are after.. maybe even a 9wt too give u a little more beef for larger steelhead... a short skagit head should be perfect for you aswell!!!!! but if u can get down too calgary and swing by a few shops and give a few rods a go!
  5. right on canada! 1 of each medal after day two and tied for third overall!!!! not too shabby!!!! bin some dope action the last 2 days! should be a good olympics!!!! GO CANADA GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  6. from what ive learned in my past two steelhead trips dude is u wana not swing so deep too find more aggressive and fresh fish more willing too chase.. stay away from tail outs late in the year aswell.. also dont fish super high up in a river system were its more likely a fish has traveled a long way and is now stagin... it wont always happen but u can limit you odds of hooking "stale" fish if u try too stay away from them... u might be militing your chances of how many fish u hook on a trip but i feel its worth it for my fishing needs! ive only hooked a few steel and havnt landed any of em but they were dime brite! and totally kicked my a$ n that is te way i like it!!! its also kinda like hunting bulls in alberta.. u can either fish the pools n runs they like too live and eat or look for pre spawn holding water and targed the stale fish..... please can this not turn into a mega argument tho! this thread has bin dope with alot of awsome pics from across out pretty country and it would be nice too keep it that way...
  7. ive ibn using fisknat for 3+ year now and love em! super duper nets imho! durable, dont harm the fish etc.. all the good stuff rubber has too offer.. also u can get em re meshed (after 300+ guide days she started too split in a few spots from ripping out of the bushes...) frishtales carries em, its were i picked mine up!.. totally sold on the 2 nets i got and im looking at getting one for my driftbooat this summer!

    Dry Only?

i dont think being in teh industry or not defines ones outlook on being a dryfly purist.. ive had many clients and have friends who it is the only way they want too fish! and so be it! for me i love it all.. BUT specific months i tend too do more of one thing than another thats forsure! but wether it be fishing a double handed rod or single handed rod nymphs streamers n dries are all fine with me! i love stalking snouts on dries but blind casting them aint my thing... streamer fishing is top knotch in my books but i only fish em when i feel it can be more productive! and i do nymph alot!
  9. i realy dig airflos coatings ! i find they are pretty slick and super durable... i havnt fished that taper before bin the only flaw ive seen in any airflo is that in cold weather -5 or greater they can hold some memory
  10. and my personal best crow bow i picked up early in oh9!
  11. and a few from my oilsand assault lastspring with my birthday/personal best piker!
  12. here are my favorites from the bow this year!!!
  13. last months voting is almost done ladies n gents!!! still got some time so make your vote!
  14. like mark metioned ther are dropping the aeg line of loop single handed rods.. they were a updated version of the greyline series rod same as the mutli sticks.. its was a pretty cool idea and a way too get a incredible stick for less than the multi price! for what the troutbum rods are at now they are a steal and are arguabl one of the best rods for that price easy!!!!1 i won a few and use the 5wt often for light nymphs and hopper dropper rigs!!!!!!
  15. the airflo depthfinder is a deadp sinking line.. it comes by grains.. 22 ft sinking head with two toned integrated running line.. for a small stream line the rio gold would be a good bet!
  16. yes, tha god of bigguh feesh!
  17. i like the hook point up.. i try too get the fish hooked in the top part of the jaw.. feel i have a little more control over the fish, also i feel i dont hook as much debri when drifting lower in the water column.. but i have a bunch of friends who swear the hook holds better if its in the fishes lower jaw..... so its all up too paith i suppose!
  18. here are a few of my favorites.. was having a hard time picking so i jsut grabbed my most memorable ones from the mountain streams in oh9! will get some of my bow river ones up after the foozeball game......
  19. dude u gotta understand taht those bulk cones sold at a shop need indvidual packaging, labeling, marketing, shipping, brokerage fees and someone has too get paid for each of these processes too get them from a 3rd world factory all the way too your local shop.. personally i support my local shops for almost all of my stuff except the things that i cannot get at my local shop... BRB is right.. those who choose to not shop local in the end are the reason the local retailers go out of business or have trouble selling items.. then dont carry peticular products then get flack frmo locals for not haveing 1 pack of everythinhg in there shop...
  20. i like the cheapo attachment i pickup up! i dont use the needles with the ball on the end.. just the longer tapered one... works well for any tube imho!
  21. they fit snug but dont jiggle aroud.. are u making sure the end of the tube isnt flared out before sliding it on?
  22. i here ya dude! its all about mass production and tying the flies that i need for the upcoming season! i personally agree with buying quality materials over quantity but for some who are getting into tying or dont have a ton of expendable cash too get top notch hooks, feathers or wuteverdont justify it.. kinda like rods reels and line! do u only own highend 1000-2000 doller rod reel line combos BRB? i think alot of people get into flytying got the artistic/creative side of things and love too get new materials/mediums too create new flies with and what is wrong with that? is it hurting your pocketbook that someone buys things they dont need but want? or are u just looking to stur the pot?
  23. gotta be one of the best things uve said in all of your posts dude!!!!!! tons of good rods out there for that price.. what i tell anyone who wants too spend on high end gear or any gear for that matter is... i would test drive a ton of stuff from a bunch of top companies not just one and see what works best for me!!!!!!! and compae the components aswell!!!!!! i know wayne lives in lethbridge b ut if i have the chance i would bomb too calgary before i bought anything and hit up a few flyshops!
