like others have mentioned the outbound isnt the best line but it would work! the big thing is if you want to great a scandi you need a longer front taper.. adding a floating tip from rio would work and it will cast some decent tips but that line is better suited for overhand casting! a airflo 40+ has bin my go to switch line for the past 3-4 years!!! if i need better turnover with tips i typically take about 5-6 feet off the front... i typically line my switches 1-2 line sizes over.. so a 7-8wt line on a 6wt switch etc...

overlining a rod slows the blank down. i find with some people they purchase fast action blanks and over line then to better fit there casting stroke. were a medium actions rod woudl be better for that casting style... it can be hard if you dont lengthen your casting stroke and apply more power through the stroke with a double haul. but if you just add more weight (heavier line) it will force the blank too load deeper naturally allowing you more of that slingshot feel.. same can be said for underlining a rod.. i have a few sticks that i am actually going a line size down so i dont hit it to hard and through a tailing loop later on near the end of the cast or cause the loop to collapse in the air... its worth a shot for what you want to do but your not exactly making your rod a 8 wt or 10 wt rod per say but somewhat in my eyes.. you might have a fast action 6 and 8 and now your making them behave more like a medium action 8 and 10.. hope that helps...

picked up all sorts of new toys this year and im super stoked on getting a few more!!! rods on the way im excited about are the loop opti power 9130-5 and the evotec mf 8120 some deadly trout stick i got on the way that should be great too are teh loop xact 6126-4 and evotec mf 6126-4!! finally reasonably priced loop troutters!!!!!! my all time favorite stick is still the opti 8124.. can cast that rod all day long no doubt!!!! wether it be with a 510 airflo skagit or loop scandi head in 31ish grains float or full intermediate i just cant get enough of this stick!!! had the pleasure of fishing the pieroway metal detectors alot this year mainly the 510 it is a sweet stick fished it lots for trout on teh bow this year.. i dig a 480 skagit on it or a 31gram scandi.. used it for steelhead lots this year too swinging wets, dries or tossing big bugs with the skagit!!! but i cast the 720 quite a bit too for fun and got one small steel with it! that stick can cast any tip and any fly as far as i want it to go for the most part totally awsome!!!!! glshooter i have the evotec 8136-4 mf and totally dig the stick with a 540 skagit! 570 will be best for most people i think but i wanted too speed the blank up a bit.. never got too cast the `f`blank... i dig the new evotec handles.. its exactly like a hockey stick in shape!!! feels just right EH! a rod i had a blast casting for only a few days this year and will be using alot more in some situations was the GASS 9116 .. used it in squamish for chums.. its my double barrel sawed off shotgun loaded with slugs!!!! lined with a 570 skagit this stick it awsome for big flies and tips in tightplaces!!! such a fun stick to cast!! a few other rods i enjoyed this year were the sage tcx series got too cast a few different lengths n weights n i enjoyed them alot same with the g loomis nrx series!! i just dig the tip flex fast action i suppose!!!! both series are light responsive with tons of power!!!! like silver doc said! wish i had more cash flow too toss around too!!

ive done a little double handed fishing from a boat and i find it a pain in the but personally.. i use the boat too get within good range too fish the banks and the double handers offer a distance game for me frmo shore.. but i do single handed spey cast 90% of the time from a boat or shore really.. i think its the most practical casting style for less time in the air more time in the water.. i sut found that a 11-13 foot rod too be too clumbsy frmo a boat when fishing nymphs hopper droppers and streamers along teh bansk or mid river.. when i can i keep it all withing 20-30 feet of me beacuse my mending strike recignition and accuracy is as close too 100% as i can get in terms of control and efficiency.. i feel the double handers excell best with long deep swings, stripping streamers or hitting far out buckets and seams from shore

aqua seal or goop anything and everything leaky!!!!! panty ho's can be good or dubbing for filling in bigger holes in teh booties or rips in teh beathable part!!!
-
it all depends on what nymphs i tie! super clear water i like a dull hairline dubbing but mostly for the bow i use ice dub! dont use pheasent tails anymore just brown ice dub, peackock icedub for prince nymphs and the grey(cant remembver the name) for my hairs ears n so on... but having some antron or hares ear dub on some patterns can be key.. the crow is a winter stream that i feel not too sparkly nymphs at times (right now after a summer season with tons of anglers) can help no trip out some ofthe skittish fish!
