check out some of the other discussions on indicator fishing dude.. strike on any twitch stall bump bob or pause.. more fish strike more subtle than we can even imagine and all i look for in teh drift is a reason too strike.. wether it be a few feet or 20 feet into the drift once the indi does something i strike.... u gotta be on top of it.. look at is like this.. if u only strike 1 out of every 10 drifts bestcase u will hook 1 fish in every 10 drifts if u strik 9 out of 10 u will have a much better chance at hooking more fish because your giving yourself more opportunities too hook up..
u wouldnt believe the amount of large pike in taht pond.. had some friends and family who would ice fish there years back and slay pike in the mid 30's too high 40 " makr.. hard as hell too get them once they have stocked all teh little bows in there but now that they dont stock it they are probably getting hungry!!! post flood i heard of some walleye and browns getting nabbed out of there too! bonked tho still tons of suckers in tehre for food i would imagine! tho but there are tons of slabs in there forsure!!!! nice fish!!!
i agree with silver doc... uv light kills tippet and leaders.. keep it in your pocket somewere away from the light... salive like other have mentioned will help brom scorching your tippet when drawing a knot tight aswell! but old tippet is junk no matter what you do!
i agree with clive on this ... not the best tool too show people who too handle pike properly or most efficiently... personally idont eve like clieves idea about sticking your hands into teh gillplate..... u need a bugger cradle too help prevent the fish from bending too much.. possibly snaping its back or damaging organs.... even for trout i prefer a longer net over a small hole very deep net type (mine has a 22" opening) for this reason.. and we have all seen jays trout nets long and slender....
BUT!!!!!!! being a hardcore trout nut like humble i can see how it is easy too under estimate what you might get in them resivoirs and would figure a standard bow river net (were u put 24+" trout in) should be enough! lesson learned ive bin there forsure! not i pack a cradle larger net or intend too land them in knee deep water when fishign from shore and i think jay will do teh same! like he mentioned in another post.. mega cradle under construction for gators!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
thanks again yall!!!!!!! here was my toothy present from teh feesh gods!!!!!!!!!! 42"s of eats wuteverthafuk......beeyahh!!!!!
p.s. rubber boots and carharts all teh rage up here while fishin!!!!!
i would go with teh 6wt dude!!! 6/7 eve is a nice rod... i have a 11'6" 7wt ive bin suing most and a 12' 6wt that is a close favorite for trout fishing with indis or streamer rigs and tips....
thanks yall!!!!!!!!!! wasnt my dopest b-day ever but still had fun ... got my biggest piker too date outta the atha at 42" long with a 20" girth.. pics will be up tommorow!!!!!!!!! hell of a b-day gift with a dozen others in teh 26-33 range!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
after dark in the summer and fall u can get the fish eating em on the bow forsure! rainbows like em to!!! not a crazy numbers game but they doo eat em!
