maxwell replied to SteveM's topic in General Chat - Not Fishing Related (NFR)
how the hell do u know u need a seal change in august??? if u dotn mind me askin rev. ive bin lucky.. had more for a few years now and she has bin holding up strong!!!!!!!!! -
good idea dude.. ive bin cracking teh stem and peeling the fibers off slowly... works most of the time.. try too keep your fingers close too teh stem or else oyu could rip the fibers off and halfto re-start teh process.. your way sounds way more fun tho!

im all for em!!!! except small rods for dries n wahtnot

masao cycles through 15 flies.. he sent me his data once.. all graphs and spread sheats broken down into wich months give ihm the most fish wich flies produce in peticular months better than others time of day etc... best thing i picked up form the data is that matchin and following the hatch even subsurface with bug activity produced the most fish with said fly.. for eg in april small copper johns on black and olive got teh msot fish for him same time teh bwo's were hatching or later in teh year teh stonefly was teh ticket when they were on the move... or caddis pupae in teh summer........ he keeps it nice and simple and over time, patience, practice etc his dues have bin paid and he has a good handle on were the fish will be month too month and what bugs they want too eat! pretty cool stuff too see in actual charts/graphs..... he does catch a decent amount of fish no doubt.. i dont like how he handles some fish but for the most part im sure some make it out alright... specially after reading his data.. spotting the same fish size species etc caught in the same runs a month or two apart.... he is a cool dude too talk too.. very humble loves too fish.... retired form japan moved too cowtown and just fishes 200+ days a year... thinks that the bow is the best stream on teh planet... and i dont blame him..... he is one of the few dudes i see out there even in sketchy cold windy rain any kind of conditions... he is interested in teh spey rod too! had a few in depth chats with him about it the last halfdozen outtings ive ran into him..... gotta give him madd props and always try too say hello when im in teh creek!!!!!

sick fish dude!!!!!!! good too see u made a trip up this winter!!!!!!!
-
sorry too hear that dude wish u all teh best!
-
u are on teh right track lethfisher!!!!!! the opti stream line is the deadliest line out there imho!!!!! same with your touch and go description when only lettin your indi and nymph rig hit the water.. i dont use much line stick when spey casting...... others prefer more of a sustained anchor when castin more of a preference i figure!
-
5 n 6 would be some of the smallest speys ive seeen only a few 4/5 and one meiser 3/4/5 i think it was... switches go down too 4's forsure
-
yup ima go yell at georgy too!.... jj...... u gotta hit a fwe stores too get what you want that is forsure! hopefully there will be a madd supply on teh way too wholesale!!!!!!!!! but usually i find this time of year stock can be down....
-
that rattled over that comment eh...... think u need too realize u are getting enraged over fishing and talking teh talk and walking the walk wether it be casting or catchin fish or anything else related is waht sets you apart from how you portray yourself on the river and on teh board and i figure that is why others are jumping on you.......... see u at teh next spey gathering....
-
then leave... only person u are making feel good is your own sorry self.........
-
like some have pointed out dude u need too chill out and deflate your ego a bit...... all u want too do is prove other wrong and be the dominant one...... ive yet too see u ever make a 100 foot cast and u hardy fish let alone catch large fish and all u do i brag about the halfdozen big fish u have caught over the past 5 years..... u need too shut up and fish.. u dont see me bringin up fish from years past bragging about how i caught them....... let alone tell everyone that they are wrong and that my way is the only way......
-
happy b-day brotha!!!!!!!!!
-
roflmao!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! u just made my day dude!
-
u got it dude! the biggest disadvantage for a lightweight setup is haveing a line too light and outweighed by the fly setup u wish too toss!
-
pkk nailed it..... 11-13' 5 and 6 wts are deadly on teh bow for fishing at distance.. even some 7wts are good choices for larger streamer fishin with the double handers! and leth fisher think of using a 3 or 4 wt for dryfly fishing when u want too save your tippet.. a longer softer rod like a 8 or 9 ' 3 or 4 wt will obsorb and bend more than a 6wt and take more impact reducing teh stress on light tippet.. so u can pull and stear the larger fish easier with less break offs compared too a 6wt....... and acually land them faster because u can apply more side pressure and ahve a tighter set drag........ im lookin at getting a 8' 8" 3wt thisyear.. gonna be a nutty stick!!!!
-
the rods ive bin using the most on teh bow the past few seasons are a 9' 4 n 5 wt, a 9' or 9'6" 6 or 8wts a 11' switch and a 12' 6wt spey and 11' 6" 7wt(soone too be back in my hands) spey.... all loops and a few custombuilds from g&l flycraft

maxwell replied to KingSalmon's topic in General Chat - Fly Fishing Related
i prefer waiste highs..... i rarely wade past my knees because i can deliver teh fly too were i need too fish and if i need too cross i find a place easier and less risky.... incase of extreme weather conditions i have jackets, themal underwear, fleece liner hoodie etc.... i feel it is more of a preferance thing -
