  1. bloodworms "midge larvae" are awsome! and mini sanjuan worms work great for that but we do have tubliflex worm wich are aquatic worms jsut like a earthworm they have gills behind there spiracles too breath underwater and do what earthworms do just sub surface!
  2. red wire on a hook size 6or 8 will slay em.. ive tied em with a few dozen different materials and they all work teh same... might aswell have the weight with some large red wire.. if you want to actually tie somethign tho floss, vinyl rib, dubbing, marabou, chenille, crystal flash, flashabou, larvae lace, vinyl sheet or anything else u can find in red will do too!
  3. dope pics dude! thanks for posting!
  4. sweet fathers day dude! thanks for sharing!
  5. i like a 8wt with about 10 feet of t-14 on teh tip! loads teh rod up nice and u can just pick up a cheap line and your laughin!
  6. there are lots out there dude! lk and i lastyear became beaver pond junkies for a few months!!!
  7. dope pics dude!! i love that spot!
  8. yea like uber metnioned u cnat just take a bucket of fish form some lake or stream and stock it.. u can contact some fish farms can get fish too stock a lake tho! its not super cheap u need oto get the gov. out too test teh water tell u roughly how many fish u can put in it etc then u purchase the fish!
  9. check out some of the other discussions on indicator fishing dude.. strike on any twitch stall bump bob or pause.. more fish strike more subtle than we can even imagine and all i look for in teh drift is a reason too strike.. wether it be a few feet or 20 feet into the drift once the indi does something i strike.... u gotta be on top of it.. look at is like this.. if u only strike 1 out of every 10 drifts bestcase u will hook 1 fish in every 10 drifts if u strik 9 out of 10 u will have a much better chance at hooking more fish because your giving yourself more opportunities too hook up..
  10. u are awsome dude!!!!!!!! off topic but i love the macro of the fisheye ball! dope sunset on the reflection!!!!! SHOUDLNT HAD GIVIN AWAY THAT SPOT!
  11. i like running some 40 or 50 lb nail knotted off of my flyline for nymphs and dries. i find is you seal it with zap a gap of knot sence it wont get water seapage versus welded loops can get cracked and start too soak up water.. when i fish sinktips i use welded loops all the way tho!
  12. nice set of pics bud~!
  13. nice fish!!

this thread has bin brought up dip back a fe pages.. ( http://flyfishcalgary.com/board/index.php?showtopic=6515 )) i think its more of a section for those who feel they need help too ask for it from others with more experience...
  16. sweet pics dude see the opti creek combo is getting a workout too!!!!!!
  17. cool tie dude! looks similar too a spent adult i fish in the evening!!!!!
  18. u wouldnt believe the amount of large pike in taht pond.. had some friends and family who would ice fish there years back and slay pike in the mid 30's too high 40 " makr.. hard as hell too get them once they have stocked all teh little bows in there but now that they dont stock it they are probably getting hungry!!! post flood i heard of some walleye and browns getting nabbed out of there too! bonked tho still tons of suckers in tehre for food i would imagine! tho but there are tons of slabs in there forsure!!!! nice fish!!!
  19. i agree with silver doc... uv light kills tippet and leaders.. keep it in your pocket somewere away from the light... salive like other have mentioned will help brom scorching your tippet when drawing a knot tight aswell! but old tippet is junk no matter what you do!
  20. like others have mentioned a fast action rod usually requires a line size heavier too feel equal load of a slower action rod.. some people even use two line sizes up! i like the rio grande.. the gold is alright aswell... the mainstream line is a lower end - midrange line with a fairly simple taper so she wont cast the smae as a more aggresive taper like the grand would.. you may notice that lighter lines dirty up quicker mainly because they show dirt easier... my white lines after a day look grose!
  21. sick fish dude!!!!!!!!!!!
  22. roflmao awsome!!!! every day dude every day!!!!!!! was stellar in the rain today!!!
  23. jsut swing by some flyshops and pick up some bulk sink tip in a few densities.. usually fairly cheap maybe a buck a foot or so! unless u are itchin too chop up a old line and use that instead! but if it were me i would save it for the few times i fish lakes!
  24. ive bin dabbling with them more and more latley and i like them in some situations! like bombin streamers!
  25. longer rods are great for more leverage ease of mending hooksetting at distances etc but shorter rods are easier too control fatigue you less and are easier too learn on.. i think teh 8" 6" would be better suited for you specially because i remeber u talking about your elbow last fall i think.... might help .. 6 inches of graphite dotn seem like much but it will help...... worry about the bombs and such later and you can make it easier too mend at distance by lifting your are higher and making your rod a 11 footer (its what i do) same with hook setting.. not all abotu power with mends and strikes more abotu leverage.. and your are is the best lever u have!!!!...... then get a 9"er down teh road... maybe
