  1. Wow a combination of my two favorite things. Have to start saving my shekels for a trip.
  2. You could also do this, see my blog. Best traction I've ever had. Korkers also offer replaceable souls with cleats.
  3. Look forward to seeing the pictures of your Trip, would love to do one of Bob White's trips.
  4. I bought a pair and really love them.
  5. I think everyone was just offering their experience in this by all means order and give them a try. They may suite your needs
  6. Beautiful brown.
  7. The other problem is these are not local patterns tied for our waters.
  8. That's right, last I heard they're aiming for Spring or early summer 2012. Not sure what the fine is, the buoys have been up but high water broke it off and it has just been reattached. There is signage when you float down above the passage that you must portage. Mind you I think a lot of people are blind drunk coming down that stretch.
  9. And life jackets, I see them so seldom.
  10. Looks like a Boreal, Western Toad. Nice cutties
  11. This is one is hitting $1,000 http://cgi.ebay.com/Whiting-PLATINUM-Grizz...=item2a12dc6a40
  12. Rafters run rampant Rafters flocked to the river to beat the heat on the long weekend. View larger image View larger image Raft jammed A raft is jammed against a bridge abutment on the Bow River. Updated: Mon Aug. 01 2011 18:15:29 ctvcalgary.ca Calgary fire crews were kept busy on the waterways this weekend as rafters headed to the river in droves to beat the heat. Thousands of rafts and boats bobbed in the water of the Bow and Elbow rivers this past weekend. The Calgary Fire Department's Aquatic Rescue Team dragged dozens of people out of the drink as people continued to disobey the rules of the river. Between 3:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. on Monday crews responded to four incidents involving overturned rafts and people in the water of the Bow River. Three rafters were ejected from their boat after it hit the bridge abutment on the 10 Street Bridge. The fire department rescued one person from the river and the other two rafters made it safely to shore. Crews were fishing empty boats and people out of the water all weekend. One police officer says he had to ask over 100 people to get off the water on Sunday due to extreme intoxication. He says people were passed out on their rafts and on shore and says people need to remember that consuming alcohol in a public place is illegal and the rivers are no exception. The Calgary Fire Department is reminding all river users to exercise caution when approaching bridge abutments. Original article and video here.
  13. Just sold a saddle for $750 to a local fashion salon. Yippie, more money for toys.
  14. Happened to hit a shop in Friday and noticed it. Nice job Tightline. I'll use mine for stream side notes.

Great pix but you didn't take me
  17. Great post thank you
  18. Great job for a first fly keep tying and experimenting, looks like you have a worm bundle there. The next step is to try i on the water.
  19. Good guess Murray, it was 240. I've been noticing a few of the shops and suppliers are holding their Long saddles for thier regular tying clients. Here's a post from my friend Poppy at Red Shed. http://www.redshedflyshop.com/WHITING.html
  20. I like this one, geared for steelhead but I like it "SOME THOUGHTS ON ETIQUETTE" "TREAT OTHER ANGLERS AS YOU WOULD LIKE TO BE TREATED" "RESPECT OTHER ANGLER'S FISHING SPACE, DO NOT LOW HOLE" "ALWAYS ASK PERMISSION TO SHARE A RUN, START BEHIND OTHER ANGLERS ALREADY FISHING" "WHEN FISHING A RUN WITH OTHER ANGLERS MOVE DOWN A COUPLE STEPS AFTER EACH CAST IS FINISHED" "AFTER YOU LAND A FISH GET OUT AND GO BACK TO THE TOP OF THE RUN" "HELP A NEW ANGLER IF IT'S OBVIOUS THEY ARE HAVING TROUBLE, OFFER USEFUL TIPS, SHARE A FLY OR TWO" "WHEN FISHING CATCH & RELEASE USE TACKLE HEAVY ENOUGH TO LAND THE FISH WITHOUT A PROLONGED FIGHT, MASH THE BARB TO MAKE THE RELEASE EASIER ON THE FISH" "RESPECT PRIVATE PROPERTY, ASK FIRST, LEAVE GATES AS YOU FOUND THEM" "PROTECT THE RESOURCE, DON'T LITTER" "REPORT GAME LAW VIOLATERS" "RELEASE ALL WILD STEELHEAD" "LIMIT YOUR KILL, DON'T KILL YOUR LIMIT"
  21. So you though they where using a lot of hackle before did you? Remember you are only looking at eh front of the dress. Take a close look and try to count the capes. How many fly shops did that wipe out stock in.
  22. Hoppers should also be a good bet.
  23. Also if anyone is curious the new wier project is also covered by the same no fishing law.
  24. Get thee to a flyshop for a fix - the first hit is free... he he
  25. Doubt very much if it fades by Christmas, expect an increase as we've just seen the top of the bubble. Have friends in the fashion business and the condenses is it will stay as an addition to hair styling (by the way a designer friend of mine is starting to use long strands of Krystal Flash™ or Flash-a-bou™ along with feathers). Meanwhile we are most likely looking at a few years before growers catch up as they will be hesitant to do a lot of expanding of their flocks in case the fad suddenly fades and they are left with too much product. We are talking about premium genetic long hackles here. Certainly easier to tie with but the normal capes and saddles aren't affected as they are too short for fashion and still work well for tying, you just have to sort more. The long generics are much faster to tie with so the commercial fly tying houses will be most affected by the price increase. Now something no one has mentioned a lot is that the Hackle growers had already faced a feed increase of 60% that before the craze that had a hard time passing on to retail ships. That of course has now changed. As everything travels downhill we are most likely to see an increase in the cost of flies which in many cases from a labor point of view, are under priced at it is. The other point is not all flies are tied with hackle.
