  1. to use it properly lay down a base of tying cement, it insures that it doesn't soak into the materials for things like shellbacks. I use a needle to apply it when I use it.
  2. I've spent a good deal of time in the woods in many provinces and states over my last 63 years. Fishing, hunting and for a number of years guiding. Encountered a great many bears of all kinds and temprements, experienced a few false charges over that time. Common sense prevails in the end. I think most of the bear paranoia comes from the very inexperienced about the outdoors and the immature.
  3. Very nice ties.
  4. I like to remind everyone at this time of year about their equipment. Many of us have a routine to keep our rods reels etc in top condition through the year. A good inspection and careful cleaning goes a long way. Quality equipment is not cheap, keep it in top shape for a long time. I have some tips here.
  5. more please
  6. That's what I like about my old Hardy reels, just heavy enough.
  7. That's what I found, I love the way the runner picks up line fast but wish is was a bit heavier. Nice thing about the Classic.
  8. If you use them for big fish be sure to lash them at least 3/4 length of the hook, I also hit them with zap-a-gap so they are solid
  9. Never experienced the stress thing that at all. Always use a loop to loop, maybe that's the difference.
  10. Like a lot of guys who fish blind eyes, I use 20 or 20 lb white flyline backing.
  11. A couple of Chukar Partridge capes, couple of whiting Spey capes that looked nice. Stumbled on old stock Mustad hooks that I grabbed5 packs. A few flies from April for my display.
  12. exactly
  13. Spent time with April at the show. What a great gal.
  14. For the 510 Butter Stick I would go with a Loop Classic 5/8 or even a 7/9 depends what line combo you need to put on it. It throws a 400 gr so i would lean toward the 7/9. I would take the stick down to a shop and check out the balance with the reel first. That rod from what I remember is fairly light and you don't want too heavy a reel. Great reels the classics I have a couple that i love.

  24. At one time I glued sheets together to get the thickness. Now I cheat and buy a pair of cheap flip flops from the dollar store and cut em up.
