  1. Nice to know that least they care, even though they don't have the knowledge. I tend to carry regs around with me also.
  2. I was out a few times during the winter, there are a number of guys Spey casting that I have run into. Not really high numbers but a lot more than there where say 4 years ago when I know of 3 including myself. Some of my pals who swing flies on the Bow don't post here much any more for various reasons which is a shame. And I don't post trips as much as I did but do want to try my Meiser for spring Lake Trout this year. I need to look for a short fast sinking sinking head. And of course there is the pike season. I've been exploring some non typical uses along with Trouting big waters. Last year I had a blast on the Okanagan Lake flats catching so many large Carp in the 20 to 30 lb range I couldn't lift my arms the next day, really got a kick out of my son that picked up my Spey and promptly hooked onto a wicked Kamloops trout that took him into the backing and taped at 28". I tend to use my Meiser Spey on the Bow for swinging streamers, and indicator nymphing which I find very much easier on my shoulders and back than double hauling, with a much longer drift than a single handler. Dry fly work of course is a different rod.
  3. Verry well done boys kudos to you. The more policing we can do the better.
  4. Nice fish great to see someone who know how to tie a dropper
  5. Two years for boys to join "Team Geezer". Hoping to buy a pontoon this spring to replace the one that was "borrowed". Maybe we need a team geezer fishout.
  6. sourdough bread, lots of recopies on the web. we make the dough up and wrap it around a stick to bake it over an open fire. Yummie, also pan fries of any kind, but must be in a cast iron pan and lastly BACON anything goes go with bacon. and life is good.
  7. Funny we have hundreds and sometimes thousands of people reading posts about bears, and having heated discussions about silly things but very little interest in the new regulations. Makes me wonder how many people actually read them. Just a gentle reminder that we have seasonal closures on a lot of Provincial waters coming up. Close to Calgary we have: On April 1st - closed The Bow River from Carseland Weir down to to the Highway 24 Bridge The Bow River from the Bearspaw Dam to WHD Weir On the Crowsnest River from Lundbreck Falls & Hwy 3 The Elbow River from Glenmore Reservoir down to Bow River Please, please don't forget to read and study your reggies and buy a new license.
  8. The nice thing about buying locally is that yo can see the quality and true color of the cape. I no longer buy on ebay, too much of a crapshoot as far as quality goes.
  9. The new fishing regulations are now up on the web site here. Take the time to read them and know them. Check out that late or stream before you go, there are some changes. And another reminder to buy a fishing license.
  10. Wonder if they have shown up on any of the electro fishing surveys lately
  11. Easy just read all the old posts on the forum.
  12. By the way if you are in an area that has Carp they can be a panic on a fly rod, remove them from the fishery. I've had 100 yard runs and being attached to a 40 lb carp is a hoot. They will take a bugger or nymph and make really great fertilizer for your tomato beds. When I travel home to Kelowna along with fishing the mountain lakes I often do a few evening hours on the beach flats and load up on flower bed gravy for the Mother in law.
  13. Nice pix thanks for posting
  14. Wet fly emergers for swinging.
  15. interesting looking film
  16. For those of us who have not reached Geezerhood yet don't forget to renew you Sports fishing licenses before the end of the month. It's an easy one to forget, so dig up yer Win cards and stroll by your favorite fly shop or buy online. Tight lines and have a fun year.
  17. Fishtales had universal vice bases a while back, you could also try the Fishing hole.
  18. Missed the new one on Tuesday but thanks to the PVR found another one. Thanks for the heads up, have it on record series now.
  19. Well done thanks for posting
  20. Very nice ties with the Bamboo frame
  21. Excellent ties Don, send us some pix of your trip.
  22. If you are on Mac iMovie is nice and sold as free software with the machine. For high end editing at work I use Adobe After Effects but it is pricey for a newbie.
