  1. crowsnest sounds great. thanks for the link mrBotangles.
  2. Our family like to camp and my 10 years old son and myself we like to fish. Last year we camped in BC at Champion lakes. The fishing in those lakes sucked but beaver creek at the bottom of the hill was fun and we caught some nice fish. This year we are looking for a different place. We did the whiteswan lake the year before. I am looking for suggestions. We have a 26 ft trailer so back country camping is not an option. We are open to about 8 hour travel around Calgary.
  3. I am taking my 9 y.o and a few of his friends fishing this week-end. The problem is that I don't knbow where to go. Any suggestions? Thanks
  4. I am looking to subscribe to a fly fishing magazine for leisure reading. What would anyone recommend?
  5. I was wondering if there are area where we can still fly fish at this time of year around here. I'm itching. Going South this winter to fish but I would like to fish some more around here since the weather has been nice lately. Thanks
  6. I am looking at buying a new set of waders. Any recommendation? I do not want boots that have felt as they are being banned in some area. Suggestions are appreciated. Thanks
  7. Dude, that's some crazy story. Thanks for sharing
  8. Nice fish. Great job. Keep fishing.
  9. Look it was an offer I made to people interested in this. Tonight I spent 30 buck on a douzen flies at bass pro. I have a 7 yo son who is trying to learn to fly fish and my father in law woh is also learning to fly fosh. Last week-end between those two I lost 15 flies. So with that said, The only perfect fly is the one you tie nad catch a fish on other than that I am not interested in placing a 3 dollar stone fly on my son's line for him to snag the bottom. My fly fishing budget is not as deep as some of you here but I want to be able to continue fishing every week-end like I have been doing since we moved here 3 weeks ago. Beside my boy is dreaming fish right now and that's all he wants to do. So I need to try to keep this sport afordable if we are going to be able to enjoy it. Thanks to all.
  10. I am looking at buying flies in bulk. They come by the douzen and are about 2.90 to 3.25 per douzen. I woud like to order many douzen of flies that could be spit between 3-4 people. I am looking for one more person and we would have a group of 4 so we can get 3 of each flies. Like I said the flies are about 25 cents each. PM me if you are interested. I am not interested in making money on this as it would go for the cost that I pay. I have a 7 years old that is learning to fly fish and he is going throug flies like crazy. Thanks
  11. I actually agree with that statement. I caught trouts last week in a lake during high noon time and this week-end I fished morning noon and evening and what I have noticed is that there are time that the fish will go in a feeding frenzy and you look around you and see everyone is catching something then bamm, all catching stops as if the fish were talking to each others. Get out there and like I say to my son "there is only one way to catch a fish and it's with the line in the water" Good luck
  12. Thanks. Have a great week-end fishing for you hitting the waters
  13. Just moved here a few weeks ago. We are getting ready to fish this week-end. I am looking for some material for fly tying. My SJW from last year were a little crispy and I would like to tie new ones. Where can I find material around the North West Calgary. I don't want to run to Bass pro if I don't have to. Thanks
