  1. In more ways than one.
  2. The Loop Opti Stream has been the best single handed fly rod I've owned. Perfect weight and I can drift nympths or settle a dry fly nice and easy. Excellent casting control, it's super accurate and can handle big bushy dries. It sings with a number of lines that I own. It's a rod I use a lot.
  3. I met my wife of 28 years marriage on a trout stream. It was not catch and release.
  4. it's all about presentation.
  5. Unlimited fishing possibilities on the Bow. Don't have to wade. I wear waders but seldom get them very wet. I see most people standing where the fish are.
  6. Needs a longer rod case
  7. This old fat guy can actually do up his boots without passing out
  8. I have the Korkers Chrome and love em.
  9. Awesome pictures like always.
  10. In the end, no matter what I see from some of the so called "reports" here, a small percentage of fly fisherman catch the largest percentage of the fish, why? because they take the time to get to know the water. As said a few guides and fishermen here give wonderful accurate reports on conditions. But, Just because a spot is pointed out the likelihood of a novice being highly successful is low. Certainly there are exceptional days but I often see reports here that wildly contradict what is actually happening on the water as far as insect life, water conditions and size of catch. people like to boast and stretch it a bit. Fly fishing is getting to know the water, insect life, cycles and seasonal conditions and using that information gathered to present a representation of what the food source is at the given time. In my mind it isn't using a bobber and wire worm, if that is your boast to being a fly fisherman, I believe you're missing the mark. Just my 2 cents.
  11. This will be excellent for the fishery. Thanks to all who participated in making this happen.
  12. Used the crushed version also using the coffee grinder trick, keep mine in an old 35 mm film container. I also like to have a few of these silica packs in my hardy bag, reel cases and my vest to help with moisture reduction.
  13. Tip: You can do an under-body of of wrapped foam also for flotation.
  14. Verry cool those would make great wall decor.
  15. Not many places are, we'll keep the trout and Ginnes warm for ya, and the Glenfiddich on ice.
  16. You just need to find a Spey rod that is suited for trout waters. My 4 wt Meiser rocks and even 14" trout will give me a run. Not to mention these guys
  17. Carping in Kelowna off the beaches with shallow flats like the Maude Roxy Wetland and Gyro, late in the evening. My Staff is with me everything I wade, I love it so much I never hit the river without it. It's essential tackle for me especially with the weighted bottom. Haven't talked to Greg since the FF show. See you next time you're out here.
  18. Nice to know that least they care, even though they don't have the knowledge. I tend to carry regs around with me also.
  19. I was out a few times during the winter, there are a number of guys Spey casting that I have run into. Not really high numbers but a lot more than there where say 4 years ago when I know of 3 including myself. Some of my pals who swing flies on the Bow don't post here much any more for various reasons which is a shame. And I don't post trips as much as I did but do want to try my Meiser for spring Lake Trout this year. I need to look for a short fast sinking sinking head. And of course there is the pike season. I've been exploring some non typical uses along with Trouting big waters. Last year I had a blast on the Okanagan Lake flats catching so many large Carp in the 20 to 30 lb range I couldn't lift my arms the next day, really got a kick out of my son that picked up my Spey and promptly hooked onto a wicked Kamloops trout that took him into the backing and taped at 28". I tend to use my Meiser Spey on the Bow for swinging streamers, and indicator nymphing which I find very much easier on my shoulders and back than double hauling, with a much longer drift than a single handler. Dry fly work of course is a different rod.
  20. Verry well done boys kudos to you. The more policing we can do the better.
  21. Nice fish great to see someone who know how to tie a dropper
  22. Two years for boys to join "Team Geezer". Hoping to buy a pontoon this spring to replace the one that was "borrowed". Maybe we need a team geezer fishout.
  23. sourdough bread, lots of recopies on the web. we make the dough up and wrap it around a stick to bake it over an open fire. Yummie, also pan fries of any kind, but must be in a cast iron pan and lastly BACON anything goes go with bacon. and life is good.
  24. Funny we have hundreds and sometimes thousands of people reading posts about bears, and having heated discussions about silly things but very little interest in the new regulations. Makes me wonder how many people actually read them. Just a gentle reminder that we have seasonal closures on a lot of Provincial waters coming up. Close to Calgary we have: On April 1st - closed The Bow River from Carseland Weir down to to the Highway 24 Bridge The Bow River from the Bearspaw Dam to WHD Weir On the Crowsnest River from Lundbreck Falls & Hwy 3 The Elbow River from Glenmore Reservoir down to Bow River Please, please don't forget to read and study your reggies and buy a new license.
