  1. Never had a problem with dries down to #18 in tandem flies (where I use them, never for singles).
  2. I like to use them. nice for keeping flies on droppers spread. Have used them on braces of dries also as they don't sink.
  3. Here is the old timey classic wet fly version. Browns like these.
  4. Nice Alexandra, one of my favorite flies.
  5. Ok, just finished the first one. Finish is dry so took it out in the back yard and it cast great on grass. I used Campaign Corks for the Grips. Should be a fun rod.
  6. Along with the Jimmy Legs above I really love the Alberta Stone. always good to me.
  7. I think he is already on the right path and has a job. This is a good way to learn the ropes, with a guiding company to gain experience.
  8. Welcome back!! we had twins and that kept me off the water for years.
  9. During my guiding time, I fixed one broken finger, several broken hearts, saved one guy from a heart attack, another from having his wife throw him overboard, several hooks from body parts, a delightful guy form Tokyo from a large Grizzly, and many guys from themselves. I endured brow beatings, I told you so's, one actual beating, some tearful reunions, witnessed parental bonding and helped along one marriage proposal. Been bit by kids, bit by horses, bit by clients and bit by flies. Enjoyed professional and amateur anglers alike. Made lifelong friends and saw some pass. I've never been diminished. Wouldn't have traded it for the world.
  10. When I dye stuff, I usually fix it with vinegar and rinse to make it color fast, you might try that.
  11. Have you tired Sharpies?
  12. I don't have just one, I like my vest early and late in the season and on cool days. When its warmer the William Joseph Old School Pack is nice or a Hardy Bag. I also really like Richardson chest box for flies. But then I'm old school.
  13. Welcome aboard, Lots of great streams close.
  14. I have a set of Motorola's that I use on streams with a fishing buddy, work great through the trees to about a mile.
  15. Posted on a couple of Washington and Montana web sites.
  16. I guess any of us who have an investment should look into chips. It really frosts me that a guy works so hard in life and now needs go spend extra just to maintain your sweat and tears against these low life types. Keep well Dutchie and enjoy chasing chrome.
  17. Love the Fishpond Nomad El Jefe, stuffs into the back of my belt for wading and makes a good boat net. The Kootenay Guide would also be a great choice.
  18. Please keep you eyes peeled for a Outlaw Tomcat. Our member "Dutchie" was ripped off from the Okotoks area. Help find the boat and charge these thieves. The boat is a livelihood. This is what it looks like http://outlaweagle.com/outlaw_marine.html
  19. Someone could make a fortune reporting poachers with one of those.
  20. Just thread bodies for me, even dropped tinsel in favor of sparkle thread. Fishing BC lakes last year I ended up with red base with black thread rib and did OK.
  21. Funny, I have a Speydicator line but never tried it, maybe this year.
