  1. Wow I always love your picture posts Bob, a great place to come back to during the winter and dream.
  2. Fish are throughout the Bow River system, there no section that I haven't caught Trout in, some areas do hold more than others but its much more than knowing a "spot" these change seasonally and sometimes hourly, Or even knowing the "magic fly" as they feed on what is available through a multitude of hatches plus aquatic life through the year. Its more getting to know the river, pick a stretch and shake hands. Spend the time, experiment and and enjoy fishing, the fish will come. Hiring a guide can also be rewarding to fast track your knowledge base. If you want fishing reports for exact places to go and what rock to stand with what to put fly on unfortunately you wont find it here. If you want to truly learn about the sport, be a contributing member, read past posts, research the sport find friends and grow as a fly fisher this can be the place.
  3. Predators sure have their place. But so do every other animal in the chain.
  4. Beautiful stuff.
  5. I often use a Meiser 3/4/5 double hander, nice rod and enough for a tussle with a big fish.
  6. I can see it not too bad, cloud breaks, lower half in earth shadow. Really cool
  7. Ring around the Rosy.
  8. As above
  9. Report, report, report!!! on a few occasion I've taken pictures and sent those off with a report and License no's. But above all else just look and report, never get into a confrontation. I also email areas of streams with discarded bait containers so they can up patrols.
  10. This one managed a few fish, I do have another favouite that I'll get a pix of.
  11. I'll have to get down there and check those out.
  12. He is right, I would sight fish Whitefish from my boat and loose track of the number of 5 to 110 lb + fish
  13. That class fish was not unusual fly fishing Badger... at one time
  14. Humm... got me thinking, might build up a 3 wt fiberglass this winter for next seasons small streams.
  15. Tying a bunch of different streamers for the Shuswap and Kootenays. Will need to nip off the front hook and de-barb when I go.
  16. A hatch of Blue Wing Olives
  17. As an example they net huge numbers of Whitefish out of McGreger. Unfortunately lots of other species like Walleye get caught and killed. There was a time when I would fly fish for Whitefish there but the numbers have fallen to the point I no longer would see them in the shallows.
  18. I've experienced this hatch on some of our streams, timing is everything. Wonderful time if you have the pattern. Caught the tail end of it this year
  19. Best news I have heard all week.
  20. Excellent for you guys
  21. Very nice
  22. Beautiful, bring back lots of memories.
  23. I've seen Redd's overlapping, also seen Browns use a previous redd for spawning, scooping it deeper. They can also be very small and not the off color if there is no algae or silt covering the pea gravel when they start scooping, somtimes it light gravel over heavier. Spent a lot of time watching as its fascinating. Best to avoid any areas that look mildly suspicious, but that's just me.
