I knew a guy who had a miniature schnauzer named "Magnum". I know it ain't a fishing related name, but it really suited that dog.

Odd Items Caught While Fishing
tgo replied to fishinglibin's topic in General Chat - Fishing Related
caught a muskrat on a small leech pattern fishing Sibbald Meadow Pond quite a few years ago. Didn't see him around before he took it, but it was in his mouth. Was able to release him with pliers without touching him. -
Anyone Heard Of Or Use Shoreline Risers Guiding Company?
tgo replied to BigFoamy's topic in General Chat - Fishing Related
I can't believe this guy had the nerve to accuse others of slander/libel when it is clear as day he f'd up this all in his own. He screwed a lot of people in Cochrane and area. I'm glad I passed on his fly tying night in cochrane. He would have probably done a dine and dash and left us suckers to cover his bill. What a disgrace to the guide business and just one more reason we need to license this industry imo -
Ok I have an example There is (was?) a shallow area with a gravel bar along the Bow River side that the ducks would use, along with geese. I watched a coyote attempt to take some from that gravel bar in 2010. If a fisherman walks along they would be gone, and then the people who use that area for photography, sketching and so forth would be hooped. We always took the kids very quietly, taught them not to pick plants, stick to the path etc. I was actually very surprised and a little disappointed when I first arrived and discover how restricted it was. Over time though I began to understand why. I totally understand your desire to find new water, right there with you on that one. I'm kinda frustrated with my situation in Cochrane. I live along the edge of the Toki wildlife sanctuary. They don't want anybody even walking through or fishing the creek. I can walk there in less than 5 minutes but its pretty much only good for the view

Sorry Bron, I think you misunderstood my point. I meant that if you start allowing fishermen, then why not allow people to walk their dog there or launch a dingy. Then all of the sudden its overrun. They don't even like people wandering off the pathway.

I worked at the Inglewood Bird Sanctuary as a university student in one of the children's programs they used to run there. Obviously, I asked about fishing one day and one of the head operators mentioned that there is nothing they can do to prevent people from fishing the river there, but that they will not allow people to park there and access it through the sanctuary. IMO, this is for good reason. Once you open it up to fishermen, then why not other users? Why not bring your dog for a walk there, or launch your dingy. I guess the point I'm trying to make is that they would prefer to keep the place quiet and allow for proper wildlife viewing. It isn't just a bunch of birds, there are some pretty cool creatures all over the place if you know where to look. These people are not the enemy - so lets cut them a break. Fishing around there is poor anyway, as the above post mentions.

I would take a look at the Anvil Atlas. It has a very solid base and overall construction and holds a wide variety of hook sizes. I think I got mine at Country Pleasures. It is rotary, but nothing fancy. Costs around $150

I'm interested as well, thank you! -
I'll have to check out beads and plenty next time. I bet they have a better selection and not far from the new shop at dalhousie If Michaels is more convenient you can get a 40% off coupon of their website. Although I think it is single item discount. Either way these things are cheap when you consider how many chronnies you can tie from a $4 tube of the tiny beads.

The thing I don't understand is the signage on the bow warning about didymo and washing your equipment. Doesn't the bow have didymo already? The NW section isuch more obvious ( because of cooler and less nutrients) but doesn't this stuff move downstream when it detaches? Recently made a trip down to the crow and made sure I disinfected the gear and dried it as usual. Never noticed it down there, is it a problem there too? If this stuff is found naturally, then where? Does cleaning your gear matter on these waters?

other than the usual colors, I like brown/yellow combos like JJs and Space Invaders

I have the same one, pretty popular with alot of people but they still replaced it with a newer version. I've lost the occasional signal but overall I've been pretty happy with the performance and couldn't imagine going into the backcountry without it.
