  1. Nice fish Terrance!
  2. I started to carry one near the end of the season last year with bear spray. figure it has to be better than me just yelling.
  3. Most of everything is either closed or still frozen right now. Your best bet is to fish the bow, oldman, or crow.
  4. So Boyd was on the 1st line a week ago, and now they decide to send him to QC???
  5. looks to be thin skin
  6. I inquired about the legality of this system with a head CO in our area and he confirmed that it would be classisfied as snagging. You are getting the fish to take the hookless flies then basically flossing it until your hook catches. Snagging – means attempting to catch or catching a fish using a hook: 1. other than to induce the fish to voluntarily take the hook in its mouth; or 2. by intentionally piercing and hooking a fish in any part of the body other than the mouth Snagging Device – means: 1. an instrument that is designed for the purpose of snagging fish; or 2. hooks or lures that are altered to facilitate the snagging of fish.
  7. nice tie! that in white is killer for pike. my preference is to cut the front hook off. EDIT: I may have them mixed up, but this is the fly I said in white is great for pike... http://www.rainysflies.com/pages/detail.as...Bottom's-Up

  9. I think the longest day trip I have done would be around 25km. Ended up fishing later than I should have and the last hour hike was in the dark and was a little sketchy.

  11. That fly looks deadly Carl. Nice tie.
  12. Where would tourists/non-residents fall into this picture? Would they have to take a test before they could fish here? If so, don't you guys think it would hurt the tourism/fishing industry?
  13. I have to agree with jack in that I find them most effective during an emergence. Have a few different types/styles that I fish with.
  14. nice resident rainbows dude....

Shouldn't be smoking so close to that fish, almost going to burn it, either that or your stare... nice fish dude
  16. If you fish the bow, or anywhere for that matter, just be careful that time of year. Could be lots of debris in the flows, and fast currents.
  17. well said...my thoughts exactly Mine would have to big a big pike that I hooked into in the bow. Stripped my fly almost to my feet and then it slammed the fly out of nowhere. Set the hook and my 8wt was doubled over. It sat there for a moment, turned its head and took off, and that was that. It has given me pike fever ever since.
  18. No you don't need it on you. Your WIN # will be on your printed license. Unless you do run into a cranky CO...I have been asked to show my drivers license once along with my fishing license for proof of who I was, so might not hurt to keep something else to identify yourself.
  19. Came up a while ago, looks like a good idea to me. http://flyfishcalgary.com/board/index.php?...p;hl=monomaster
  20. 2 med c&f boxes for nymphs and dries, 1 large clear plastic for attractor/terrestrials, 2 large plano boxes for streamers, and few other larger clear ones to hold some more nymphs and streamers...don't want to not have the fly that I need!
  21. If you were driving by their old location up in the NW they are no longer there, yes. New address of store is 620-8th Ave SW.
  22. Ya, definately should be a fly in everyone's box IMO. The key is to get all the guard hares out, to get to the good dubbing. I find that you have only a little amount to play with right close to the bones that is good for dubbing (wrecked a few pairs of scissors in the process). I usually just take one foot and cut away the guard hairs and get the dubbing from it and keep the other for the wings/tails. I made the mistake of using the top of the foot and trying to dub the guard hairs when I 1st used it, but finally found out what works best.
  23. Been using it for almost any of my dries that have a wing of some sort. Stuff floats great. The underfur makes for some good dubbing as well. PS the usual sucks....don't ever use it.
