  1. HAHA fair enough
  2. How would you classify your client's skill level in general, and how much would they have they fished prior to being guided when you noticed this? I imagine a casual angler would/might exhibit this, but more experienced angler who fishes a lot it would probably not make a difference at all. So maybe the landing ratios were just related to their skill level?
  3. Gave myself a heart attack last summer fishing a lake in BC...couple otters appeared and didn't think much of it so I continued fishing and let my fly get down to the right depth, started stripping in back in and one of them took my clouser. Fought it breifly until it chewed through my leader, not sure what I would have done if I attempted to land the thing.
  4. nevermind....previous post/link isn't useful
  5. i've heard that bouque will most likely be back. Langkow prob wont, and conroy will most likely be a game time decision. basically 48 hrs to go though, so status' will probably change...let ya know if I hear anything
  6. we teach the americans how to play hockey, then they try and steal our thunder...and try to eliminate every Canadian team from the playoffs.... seems kind of like a theme to me with the US' relationship with everyone... just joking of course.....

I haven't furled stretch floss before, but what I do when making fulred flies is tie one end on top of the hook and spin the material, and continue to do what Terry does. It may help eliminate that step that Terry finds hard to stop the segment from unwrapping.
  8. Want to add what Teck suggested. I personally would start with a ~15 foot cast. Depending on the chosen fishing method, but 90% of the time you shouldn't have to cast further than 5o feet, hell even 20 feet. Its all about being quiet and taking your time approaching the fish/water. Most people just think they need to jump into the water and work water further out, when in reality you just stepped on 70% of the fish in that run.
  9. Nice fish Terrance!
  10. I started to carry one near the end of the season last year with bear spray. figure it has to be better than me just yelling.
  11. Most of everything is either closed or still frozen right now. Your best bet is to fish the bow, oldman, or crow.
  12. So Boyd was on the 1st line a week ago, and now they decide to send him to QC???
  13. looks to be thin skin
  14. I inquired about the legality of this system with a head CO in our area and he confirmed that it would be classisfied as snagging. You are getting the fish to take the hookless flies then basically flossing it until your hook catches. Snagging – means attempting to catch or catching a fish using a hook: 1. other than to induce the fish to voluntarily take the hook in its mouth; or 2. by intentionally piercing and hooking a fish in any part of the body other than the mouth Snagging Device – means: 1. an instrument that is designed for the purpose of snagging fish; or 2. hooks or lures that are altered to facilitate the snagging of fish.
  15. nice tie! that in white is killer for pike. my preference is to cut the front hook off. EDIT: I may have them mixed up, but this is the fly I said in white is great for pike... http://www.rainysflies.com/pages/detail.as...Bottom's-Up

  17. I think the longest day trip I have done would be around 25km. Ended up fishing later than I should have and the last hour hike was in the dark and was a little sketchy.

  19. That fly looks deadly Carl. Nice tie.
  20. Where would tourists/non-residents fall into this picture? Would they have to take a test before they could fish here? If so, don't you guys think it would hurt the tourism/fishing industry?
  21. I have to agree with jack in that I find them most effective during an emergence. Have a few different types/styles that I fish with.
