  1. Good VIdeo, What kind of camera did you use? and editing software? TM
  2. I have been doing some reading and just want a couple of opinions. Would the streams out by Sundre and Caroline be considered high nutrient streams? I am thinking of the spring fed ones, such as the Little Red Deer, and its trips. Dogpound, Harold creek, grease creek. And how do the above compare to Prairie creek and Staufer? I have not really spent much time on the last 2. One more thing. Anyone ever fish Beaverdam creek? Thanks TM
  3. Up until this year I have only really fished in the summer months up until around Sept. Long weekend. However, this year i have been fishing pretty much everyday on the weekends since. Lately I have not been doing as well as I usually do in the summer even though the rivers have way less people. So have I been unlucky or just not doing the right stuff. If I had to guess it would be that I am not using the right flies or technique. Do fish not take dries the same in the fall? What kind of fall flies should I be using for the mountain streams? Despite there being lots of hoppers around the fish don't seem interested in mine. Just looking for some guidance, thanks. A
  4. That is one ridiculously large Brown trout.
  5. Do the sites get really busy? Having a lake to yourself sounds sweet! And I hate to ask can anyone recomend one? (not looking for secret spot just a good place to start exploring these sites)
  6. I am wondering if anyone has any experience with the BC Forestry service campsites that are all over BC. I am thinking of trying some out this year around Fernie and Cranbrook. Does anyone have any recommendations? Most of them are adjacent to river, creeks, stream, lake. So does anyone have experience fishing these more remote waters(I think or hope they are a little less used)? If BC's forestry service roads are anything like Alberta's FTR I would think they would make for a pretty sweet trip.
  7. Since Saturday is going to be 32C and I am guessing the water temp will be a little bit high. Where should one go to do a little fishing this weekend thats a reasonable drive from Calgary?
  8. Just wondering if anyone on here has done any Bass fishing on the fly in the Osoyoos area. I am going to be staying on Osoyoos lake for a week in August and am planning on doing at least a little fishing. I have done some reading and read that all the lakes south of Penticton have large and small mouth bass in them. Will I be able to catch these fish from shore? Where do I look for these fish? and what kind of set up do I need? Would fishing for pike be good practice?
  9. Is it rusty? when is the last time you had a tetanus shot?
  10. Can you actually just random camp off the FTR? Are there rules? such as fire wood fire pits etc... Because that sounds sweet
  11. I am going to meet my friend somewhere between the playoff city (Calgary) and the can't make the playoffs city (Edmonton). We are thinking around Nordegg are seems like half way. I am looking for suggestions of good places to go around the Forestry Trunk Road. This trip has two purposes, one is to hang out and do some fishing and the other is to scope out some campgrounds. I was curious if anyone has some good suggestions of campgrounds I should ckeck-out as there are so many on the ftr around Nordegg and area. We are looking for campgrounds with private-ish spots and good fishing. Ideas? And another note is there any areas we should maybe avoid since we do not have 4x4's? I have never been on the ftr around this area.
  12. I would like more information on the waist waders?
  13. Well this news kind of puts a damber on my plans. I guess I should maybe go south instead? So now I am looking for suggestions on where to go that is close to Calgary (prefrable the north since it takes an hour to drive all the way south from my house). Are any of the lakes around Calgary ice free? or the small er streams? Or is the Bow my best bet? I have never tried to go fishing this early in the season but since I took up fly fishing I seem to want to fish a little bit more.
  14. I was thinking of heading up to Fallen Timber area on easter Friday. However I have never been up there and just have a couple of questions. The first being is it fishable this time of year. I have read on here that it tends to get really shallow at the end of the year. Will there still be lots of Ice after this nice weekend? Will I need waders or will I be fine without them? Any other suggestions or anything I am missing? Maybe suggested access for this time of year?
