  1. I plan on casting the 5119 both ways, depending which way I want to fish, nymphing or swinging a streamer, location, I just think it opens up so many options thru a day.
  2. Good site for info on MOW tips http://www.deneki.com/2010/03/spey-tech-al...kagit-mow-tips/
  3. I agree with Toolman that the Skagit would be better for the fish you'r after, just putting it out that the RIO switch line is available as another alternative asa dual purpose setup.
  4. RIO switch line, got one for my 5119, but yet to use. Rio's web site says: RIO's Switch line is designed for a multitude of applications for anglers using Switch rods. The long head and thick diameter tip turns over big flies and indicator rigs while allowing anglers to throw mends and control the fly's drift at great distance. The front taper and weight distribution form tight loops with minimum of effort, also enabling anglers to cast streamers and sinking VersiLeaders. The perfect all round line for Switch rods. Bought it at Fish Tales
  5. Didnt matter to me. It was the dream, fishing, casting, having fun, with no worries.
  6. Great video, Thanks, but winter is longer now.
  7. McCune,O’Donnell,Ward
  8. My streamers patterns dont change except maybe smaller, but I try to slow down the swing if I can find enough open water. If i cant find enough open water I dead drift my streamers & slow the retreive & look for fish in different places, like deeper runs.
  9. I have had Korkers for 2 seasons now & change from the felt to the rubber & back again when needing to, for hiking or wading & dont have any troubles except for the annoyance of having to retighten the lace every so often. Been a good boot for me.
  10. Beautiful, inspiring
  11. I didnt catch her name yet because I having problems with the connection when I went to watch a second time, but the more I get into this spey thing, the more I feel the need to go after steelhead. the scenery, the fish, the casting, & talk about casting, she can lay it out there very nicely, for being self taught, and all the that running line shooting out there..very nice, I need more practice, lots more. Hmm? sell the house, move, my computer doesnt know where the office is?
  12. You Spey Casters out there should view the Simms T-Motion Theatre. Another reason why I like Northern BC. www.catchmagazine.net
  13. Simms is the one!
  14. I tie them & use them, & they work great. I have been looking for the ultimate hopper patttern for a long time & this one works for me. As far as body cutters I use scissors, once you figure out you dimensions for a couple of different sizes, cut a bunch at a time & start tieing
  15. The vis was pretty good, could still see 24" easily.
  16. I know this topic has been beaten to death, so this is just a rent, but this has been a year to remember. I have never been crowded or low holed this year as I have been before & today took the cake. I just came back from Montana, fished 3 rivers in 1 week, drifted a river that in most places is as wide as the Crow, saw more fishermen & more boats in that week than in a month on the Bow & never had 1 other fisherman even come close & even if they did with a boat on that smaller it was in unavoidable & you realized it, but still everyone was apologetic for crowding each other. Today twice, maybe 10-15 yards, below me while I'm tossing streamers, & after walking a long ways downstream to get away from it. Anyway I feel better now.
  17. Done, we need to protect these fragile areas.
  18. Hi, Does anyone know if there is anyone operating a shuttler service for the Red Deer? Thanks in advance.
  19. Yes, I have them. I give my bearings a couple of pumps everytime I use the boat, to make my self know there is grease in the bearings & force out any water that maybe has snuck in. I pull my boat to the Elk, & the Missouri as well as the Bow so I want that security knowing that there is grease in the hubs. I also carry extra bearings, seals, grease & the tools for a roadside repair just in case.
  20. I live 10 minutes away, and drive 30 minutes to Fish Tales.
  21. You should try for the warranty. I was in the same situation after 2 years they were leaking the same as yours. I called Orvis, they gave me a RGA, sent them away & month later brand new improved Pro Guide Wdaers. No charge, Have had them for about a year now, no leaks, very durable. Great Service.
  22. Exactly my thoughts also, hooking up, fighting the fish, landing the fish with that long rod, all of that.
  23. Gotta have, Thanks for the heads up. If any thing like the first, with the addition of fish being caught, it should be great.
