  1. We are planning a trip to Montana in the late spring and want to drift the Missouri, Beaverhead, Madison & the Yellowstone. So what I'm looking for are the names or recommendations for shuttle services. I've waded & been guided on these rivers but this time I want to save some money and use my own boat. I know of the Trout Shop in Craig but looking for help with the other rivers. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance Bob
  2. 5 for Dry's & 6 for Nymphing, & playing with a Spey for Streamers
  3. A buddy & I are dragging my boat to Montana to drift, the Missouri, Beaverhead, Madison & the Yellowstone all in a week. I cant wait!
  4. Force Fins, easy to slip on & off, and the design of them allows great water movement
  5. People at work ask if I'm practicing some kind of ninja numchuk thing when I'm standing in our shop doing a double spey, but they have learned to just leave the crazy one alone.
  6. Nah, You will hate it. Browns rising to dry flys, no indicators to watch. Horrible.
  7. I've been told the Bass Pro Shop will be the first store to open & it will be in March. The rest of the stores will follow later, I guessing the August date.
  8. I dont think you can say which is better than the other, they are different. I have fished The Missouri numerous times and I enjoy it because it can be more stalking individual trout & challenging. The Caddis can be so thick with fish rising everywhere you dont know where to cast next and what fly to use because you have used every caddis in your box. I have also fished the Big Hole and caught Rainbows, Browns & Grayling the same day. Also the Beaverhead is just awesome,Huge rainbows on tiny nymphs. The Ruby is a small intimate little stream with gorgeous browns, but with challenges of it own with access restrictions. The Madison is like they say one big riffle and fish can anywhere, the edges, or the middle & then fished the Yellowstone then the Jefferson. We fished all these rivers in a week and caught fish in all of them. We were guided on some them & some not. It wasnt the numbers of fish or the size of the fish(because 1 river we only caught the one & I probably think of that 1 more than any of them) that made the trip, it was the scenery, the different water, the towns, the flyshops & the people.
  9. Hey Gordon, nice article, lots of questions though. Like the ladies rod,& and about the Vernon girls and ...gotta stop there.

  13. Thanks to Toolman and the rest of the fellows for the great time. It was nice meeting everyone, putting faces to the names. I learned a lot & and now it starts. Casting video's, books, lines, reel, more rods...another job to pay for it all.
  14. Rusty is right, Fishing the Misourri around Craig is great, and Craig is a great place to stay, stop at The Trout Shop. When your heading south try the Beaverhead, , the Big Hole & the Madison & stay in Dillon and stop at Back Country Angler's, Tom & Mary are great people and will help you out. Buddy & I did 6 rivers in 7 days down there a couple of years ago & had a blast.
  15. No legs, No worries. It will catch em. Nice Job
  16. I found a fly rod & reel on the Livingstone Trunk Road Saturday afternoon, if you want what is left of it let me know. The rod is broken in 3-4 pieces & the reel is bent, but the line maybe ok.
