  1. We need top bury this thread in case out wives find it. A
  2. Hand them a watermelon and tell them that the Riders are playing and they will be outta there. A
  3. The one made with multiple, carefully chosen high modulous carbon fibers and a new space age resin system? LOL. That is a classic. A
  4. Short answer for me is no, but I dont do it to save money. I never come out of the fly shop without more than what I went in there to buy, For me it is a pleasurable activity to pass the off season. Being able to customise one's flies is also valuable. For example, I find that alot of the patterns have the proportions a little off, especially small flies like midges. They are almost always too fat. The ability to use better materials is key ie, better hooks, tungsten vs. brass beads. I think if a guy were to only tie what patterns they fish in large numbers, and only tied those flies it may save money in the long term. The problem with that is hardly anyone does that. Andrew

    Ehc

I recently bought a Wapsi Super Fine Dubbing Assortment from WSS like this: The colours that I tie my EHC in are light cahill, olive & mahogany. I prefer tieing dries to nymphs personally. Andrew
  6. sNSFW, but then you should be working. Ferd Fifteen Thousand Andrew
  7. I dont have any experience with them. Take a look on the Bass Pro shops site for some reviews. I'm not sure what ones you were looking at, but all thier waders get mixed reivews. Andrew
  8. Rather than pollute splasher5's thread I was wondering who everyone's favortie tyers were. Myself, I like Charlie Craven & . Davie's voice in his videos is like butter. Makes me want to grow a beard, pack my tweed coat & head to Ireland to spey cast. Andrew
  9. That Shark Caddis looks killer, & simple to tie. I am going to whip some up with a black tungsten bead & perhaps dubbed with some deer hair for that "leggy" look that I use on some other caddis. Update: Here is one that I did quick, but in green because my yellow was too pen was too bright and I had no cream antron. The notes that I read said less is more for the hare's mask but I think I need a little more in there. I also think I will use ice dub instead of pecock herl in version 2.0. Andrew
  10. If you are a Costco shopper this is about the time of year that they get thier Viking rain suits (jacket & pant). I dont have one, but I know a few guys that do and they seem to like them. I think that are about $80. Andrew
  11. That was too damn funny. You have too much time on you hands. As for your pitch to the Dragon's Den, let me know. I did a pitch to the Dragon's in in studio for the 2010 season but it did not make it to the show. Andrew
  12. Do they come with cheesy sound effects, animation & clip art that people think will jazz up an otherwise boring topic? If not you can keep them. The nice thing about a dropper loop is you basically run the hopper as you indicator. The dropper loop allows you to move it without cutting you line. Here is a good video by Mikey Wier on how to use the "Hopicator" system. Andrew
  13. For the price of those you could buy 20 pairs of new nippers and be set for the rest of your life, or so. Here is a "review"/rant about these nippers on Rough Fisher FUBAR Andrew
  14. That was epic. I would have loved to see how big that fish was. Andrew
  15. The bags of partridge that I have had seemed to not have enough good feathers and more fluff than anything else. I like the cheap chinese hen hackles for soft hackles too. Andrew
  16. Gotcha, I am familiar with TFO's waranty, but from what I can tell they are pretty much the same. With TFO they call it Lifetime "No-Fault" but you have to pay $25 so they are essentially the same thing. I was looking at some of thier Wind Warrior rods so the one year warranty thing had me thinking twice. Andrew
  17. $150 is a good deal. I am suprised there are not more guys that "timeshare" drift boats. The concept is really popular with airplane owners, I am sure it would work with boats. Andrew
  18. Mine is. I was out yesterday and I had forgotten what a PITA it is. Only a one year waranty? I thought most name brand rods had a better warnty than that. Andrew
  19. Very nice. I hope to be that "rusty" some day. Andrew
  20. Tied in 14-16 with tungsten beads to get them down in a hurry. Andrew
  21. I have the same feeling about my reel. I'll bring it to the show & see what they say. Andrew
