  1. Agreed. I would like to see a boat launch added on the south side of the Ivor Strong bridge by the Enmax station. Andrew
  2. We have them in Calgary. Primarily in hotels & boarding houses. Globally bed bugs are making a resurgence due to a couple of things, namely more people travelling, resistance to insecticides, prohibition of certain pesticides with long residual effects previously used, and used furniture. I have worked with the CHR on a few cases of bed bugs. Andrew
  3. ... and they are having thier demo day this weekend so you can go try some out. Andrew
  4. 2 weeks ago when I was in Lethbridge I was going to go out to fish the Crow but when my wife's uncle caught wind that I was going wishing he asked me to go walleye fishing at Chin lake, and I went. I appreciated the gesture very much, but dragging a minnow around a lake behind a boat was more boring than watching grass grow. I feel better for getting that off my chest. Andrew
  5. It does look like a good one and I am anxious to see it. I looked into where I could get it and apparently there is some interesting things going on with the film. They dont have any distribution outside of the film festival circut so it is hard to come by. I wonder if we there is a way to set up a screening in conjunction with the symposium or the spring show. Andrew
  6. I have been using the Dia Riki Dynamic Tippet and like it quite alot. With the dynamic there is a little bit of strech that I think helps with protecting from break off with big ones. I also find it holds knots really well. I use pretty much 3x and have never had a break off that I could blame on the tippet. Andrew
  7. I happen to know one of the people that coordinate this so I will see what's involved. It may be short notice, but I'll see what I can do. Andrew
  8. I wonder what the interest would be to get together a group for that area as part of the Canadian Shoreline Clena up. By exposing the problems in the area it may bring some action. I personally would be willing to participate in something like that. Taking a quick look, there is a group that is participating in the Great Canadian Shoreline Clean Up on the Crowsnest on Sept 25. Would there be any interest in putting together a group for the liv for the event? http://shorelinecleanup.ca/en Andrew
  9. Here is the winner for the Drake Magazine Film of the Year http://www.patagonia.com/us/fb/index.jsp?i...=vty_eca004#/11 Looks interesting. Andrew
  10. Check out this great short film about steelhead conservation in southern California. PreOccupations Andrew
  11. Oh man. Watching those tarpon explode out of the water. That is the endless moment right there. Here are some links to some other winners at the Drake Magazine Fly Fishing Video Awards for this year Heart of the Marsh Supernatural Andrew
  12. I have been looking into buying a drift boat and was talking to a friend of mine who guides and he mentioned that he has been seeing the occasional Fishrite drift boat lately. I am just wondering if anyone owns one, or has looked at or fished one. What are general impressions? Strengths & Weaknesses. There are many Hydes & Clackas around and I know one cant go wrong with either of those, but I just wanted to look at all my options. Andrew
  13. Nice Fishes. Growing up on the highwood holds many special memories for me. Andrew
  14. You were just waiting to pull that one out weren't you. Andrew
  15. Tell them not to worry, they have the same crack in thier genes... or jeans depending on which way you look at it. Andrew
  16. Calgary has a community standards bylaw, but it is not as hard core as that one. That tree could use a trim perhaps, but really, what is there to get ones panties in a knot about? It's a tree. A
  17. +1 for Simms. I have the G3 guide pants and they are awesome. Very well built. Andrew
  18. I have been looking forward to this as well, but from what I can tell they dont really have distribution for the film and they have only been screening at flim festivals and dont really have a release date. IMDB.com had the release date listed as 2009 a while back & know it is listed as 2010. Andrew
  19. Thanks for the link. I am not much of a rum guy, this will hopefully help me with find some certain gins I am looking for. Andrew
  20. My first & largest bow river brown was 25" this summer on my first day of fly fishing in 20 years. As one can imagine it was a nice reintroduction. As for there being larger 30"+ fish out there, I would believe that there are a few out there. Andrew
  21. Hats off to you and F&W and the Officers down at Fish Creek. It is nice to know that someone is showing is listening on the other end and doing something. I have noticed a greater presence on that part of the river so hopefully these poachers will get the message. Andrew
  22. I ended up buying the 5/6 at lunch today. I could not hold off at that price. The place was packed with people, mostly spin casters & maggot drowners. Andrew
  23. Thanks for all the advise guys. I ended up popping over to TFH as it is right by my office & they are having thier annual sale. They were out of the Rio lines in #6 so I opted for the 444 which ended up being ~$35 after 25% off. I also broke down & bought a new Amundson TXS reel to put it on which may solve my other dislike which is my budget reel being too heavy & not feeling balanced in my hand. With backing & GST the whole set up was under $110. Andrew
  24. Much of what you guys have been saying confirms what I was thinking. When testing out rods the Signature series felt more like what I was used to in the past. I am on the fence with the Rio Gold & the 444. I might just go for the 444 for the nostalgia factor. Nothing like that peach line. Pretty sure my next rod will be glass though. Thanks for the input guys. Andrew
