  1. Looking good. What did you use as your laminating resin? Silver Tip? As for the topic of boat syles, that is a topic that one could right volumes on, and people talk about in length on boat specific forums. A lot of it boils down to what what you want to do with the boat. Will you have one or 2 anglers? Will you want it to be for overnight trips? etc. There are many people who are happy with thier low profile drifter boats from a company like Hyde or Clackacraft, but there are new options like skiffs that will likely be popular options on the Bow. 2. Fish Tales may have a demo that you may be able to take out for an afternoon. Give'em a call. Andrew

I have used dry hooks for nymphs in certain ties, but I normally tie on Daiichii hooks. Like other have said, probably just the finer guage of the dry hook that caused it to bend out on you. Sounds like you hooked into a bit of a monster so a nymph hook may have bent out too. Andrew
  4. To get the 12:1 I cut mine back 72mm since the ply wood I was using was 6mm, not a true 1/4". By the time it was all said & done it was closer to 75mm. I dont know about a boat building frenzy, i am so torn at this time of year. I want to fish, but I want to work on the boat. So many mistresses, so little time. Andrew
  5. I have the RAP number in my phone as well. I doubt these deadbeats even have fishing licences. Andrew
  6. Scaph Joints are complete & ready for epoxy. It is kinda scary when you take the firts swipe of the plane to a $100 peice of plywood. I tried to use my new electric power plane, but my Dad's Stanley No.5 plane did the best job, after a thorough sharpening. Cleaned up with some sandpaper and they are looking good. Andrew
  7. Good info. I hate paochers. They are stealing from all of us, not just the fishing community. I can hear the COPS theme playing in the background as we speak. COPS Andrew
  8. My prefrence would be an iPhone, but my employer does not not support them so we are stuck with BB. Andrew
  9. Still deep enough for me to fall in a drown my week old blackberry torch after you left. Andrew
  10. I think I know what area you are talking about. I was down there the other day for work and notice a fresh parking lot. I think the the Kinks - Come Dancing analogy fits here too. Andrew
  11. Definately a boatman, family Corixidea You should be finding them as they overwinter as adults and mate in the spring. The late summer action when you see them in when they are hatching. Andrew
  12. Not if you buddy found some waders but here is another option Big Camo Outfitters Andrew
  13. Materials ready for the long weekend... Stack of $50 bills
  14. Mike, What about something in this shape?
  15. That is looking so good Mike. I like the round corner myself, but with a rounded profile it should look hot. Either way things are looking great. Andrew
  16. Weekend Update: So with the great weather we had this weekend I made some progress on the boat. Sawdust Strongback / Lofting table Transoms & bulkheads - The long bulkheads are what will be the rowing bench and the other smaller ones will be the interior transoms. Next step will be joining up the bottom panel to make a 16' by 5' sheet and scarfing together the chines which will be 20' - 1"x3". With the chines & the bottom made up I will be able to mark out the lay out of the bottom and start lofting the boat. Andrew
  17. Mike that is awesome. Good weather for boat building. How is the baltic birch working out? All of my okume should be in next week, but I plan on using BB for my decks etc. The price compared to 1/2 marine mahogany ply cant be beat. Andrew
  18. Mike (Tungsten) needs to put up another trip. I was too busy hammering out a bathroom fan & was outbid. Just a suggestion. Andrew
  19. There was a guy on the Highwood that sounds just like this guy. When I was a kid we would wade/swim across the river to fish and sure as hell he would be there in no time, often with the cops. It was the time before digital cameras, but being kids the cops were always on our case. Harassing young people who fish while god know's what else was going in in town. Good on these guys. Looking at all the BS that is going on in Utah & Montana with Bill 309 about water access rights it is nice to see this one go the way of responsible anglers. Andrew
  20. My wife gives me a hard time about how sexy I look in my fishing outifits. As it turns out my fishing gear is my most expensive clothing I own. As for colour of shirts, I have Pink, Yellow and mint green. I am the Don Johnson of fly fishing. My jacket does match my waders, only because it is black. My clothes dont match half the time when I am not going fishing. Andrew
