  1. Always can find a place with 0 human around on the bow, if and only if you are welling to walk... i like walking.
  2. there are monsters there. everyone should fish that place!!
  3. those two people started under deerfoot bridge (bow bottom tr). Very brave and crazy.
  4. I picked up this pattern from fly shop. Is there a specific name for this fly? Thinking of googling for tying instruction... if i have the time to spin deer hair.
  5. Ok, some people here might think im crazy. I don't have too much luck at that place from above picture. If you really want white fish... go fish near the railroad bridge runs through bowness and bowness park. Have to fish it deep. The best time of year I found is from March to April and late season. For trouts, pretty much everywhere in bowmont park is fish-able.
  6. quote from their website: ======================= About Tenkara Tenkara is the traditional Japanese method of fly-fishing where only a rod, line and fly are used. ======================= I think they actually mean About Tenkara Tenkara is the traditional Japanese method of bait-fishing where only a rod, line and bait are used. I remember there is an episode from extreme fishing with robson green talks about this method of fishing. In that episode, the japanese dude hook a live bait fish with tenkara rod and let the live bait fish go to the place where other fish holding. basically, use fish to catch fish. people dress up in dry suit and carry a bucket of live fish, and catches the fish around 4" big. pretty lame.
  7. as for winter fishing, I have never stood on the ice (in moving water). I always goes into the water, cuz feel safer to stand on the ground. be safe out there...
  8. I was in the same situation. I was hunting for a waist high wader because 1) I seldom wade in deeper than waist 2) more convenient. I know fish tales has dan baily waist wader, wholesales has some?, fishin hole/bass pro has the simms g3 convert, and bass pro has white river waist high wader. dan baily looks and feels cheap. saw wholesales web site has this http://ca.wholesalesports.com/storefront/f...prod256879.html, but i can never find one in store. It looks good, especially with the front zipped pockets. not gonna buy a white river product again, they are not that durable. In the end, I pick up the simms g3 convert. No particular reason, because that's the only one of the two waist high waders I can find, and the quality is ok (also got a nice deal). In this year, I only pulled up the wader once to warm my hand. I don't see myself buying a chest high wader again. Hope this help.
  9. X2 try out first. Spey rods are all very different, and they cost ALOT! Maybe before you even buy a spey rod, just get a casting instructor for a lesson. He/she can provide rod/reel/line, and you will know whether or not this is for you.
  10. i believe closed means no line in the water, so u will still get busted if someone call in.
  11. people are just crazy... happened to me once, three guy (2 adults/1 kid)came in like 15' beside me without even asking me. me: hey, I will cover all this water. adult A talked to his kid: when I was young my dad always told me: there is always spot for the others. then all of them start to casting 15' beside me. I was like WTF? you didn't even ask, and now talking *hit. GOOD, be like that, but if I had kids, I would teach them: never jumping to other people's spot without even asking.
  12. Simms already stop making felt boots tho. They are all rubber... http://www.simmsfishing.com/site/cleanstream.html
  13. I had cheap pair of white river wading boot for a year of fishing, it's done. The felt is coming apart, laces braking, inner fabric wearing through. I have been searching a new pair for a month now. The only thing I looking for is that I don't want felt bottom, because they got frozen up pretty badly in the snow. I went to many local fishing stores, haven't really find any boots I like. Simms, guideline, etc... Then couple days ago, was talking to a guy. He has been fishing for a long time, he mentioned he does not buy wading boot no more. He just go to walmart and buy pair of boot for cheap and use for 2 years then throw away get new one. A pair of cheap wading boot costs $100, and they last 1 year (at least for me). However, I can buy a good pair of Columbia hiking boot for $60. Question: Why wading boots? Are they even necessary? Any problem using hiking boots instead of wading boots?
  14. i know your feeling. My car got breakin last week. Took my stuff. This city is getting crazier and crazier.
  15. Amundson is much faster action rod than decho. I like Amundson 3/4 alot. Using it mostly for nymphing, this stick just makes nymphing on Bow unreal. Very good price indeed, got it at wholesales's 20% off sales.
  16. My car got broke in, the window was broken and my bag was missing. I have been fishing there many times, didn't have a problem before. SO be careful when you fish there. Make sure you leave nothing valuable in car.
  17. In the end, they are all nice fish. Just relax... why get mad on forum with someone you will (possibly) never meet?
  18. Hi DutchDryfly and CDone. Do you know where I can test the Elixir or Tonic lines? (Calgary) Thanks
  19. such an old post. I recently got this rod, still looking for a line with it. Tried airflo scandi 270, 300, 330 grams. 270 is too light. 300 or 330 seems ok. has anyone tried different line on this rod? feedback is very appreciated.
