Hey Troutlover, Good on ya for wanting to get out! At 16 you should be able to get started with this kind of stuff but just taking off randomly into the bush might not be the way to start off. i) You should consider starting with a short couple-nighter at somewhere like Elbow Lake. You could hike in on a friday night and do a couple day hikes from there and hike out on Sunday night. And 420, the idea is not a crossing over the river but just a way to get across the train tracks safely (as people have been doing for decades). A crossing arm or overpass could be installed instead of shutting off the entire area. Losing access to the reservoir is what I am most concerned with.

Gary Fedrau, the victim, a 42-year-old man from Calgary who had been bow hunting west of Forestry Trunk Road 940, approximately 23 kilometres north of Highway 1A, was shot once in the abdomen by a 55-year-old man from Airdrie. After being treated at the scene by Cochrane emergency medical services personnel, Fedrau said, the victim was flown by STARS to Foothills Hospital, where he underwent surgery and remained in stable condition. As of Tuesday, police were still looking into the incident. "I know the investigation isn't finished," Cochrane RCMP Cpl. Roger Waidson said. "The victim still needs to be interviewed."""
