  1. Hi all, Just looking for some recommendations for a beginner guitar. I don't want to break the bank, but I also don't want to be outgrowing it in a year or two and be looking to replace it. I have been directed towards a Seagull S6 with cedar top/cherry sides/back. I do really like it and am giving it some serious consideration. However, I really haven't given any other brands/models any real consideration and have hardly looked at anything else. I like that it is Canadian made and really like the sound. It has the plug in for amp and built in tuner, but no cutaway which I don't really think I will be needing anytime soon as at this point I can't even play a song yet. I am however practising a lot on a rental and am really enjoying it. Oh yeah, my budget is between $300-500, although this is not set in stone....I am willing to pay a little more if needed. Thanks for all your help! SS
  2. Was a slow year for me...although in fairness I didn't get out as much as I would have liked. Last year was much better! Looking forward to 2011!
  3. If you own a Mac by chance there are some free lessons built into GarageBand. That is what prompted me to start learning recently as well. Will definitely keep my eye on this thread though for more tips!
  4. Hi all, The time has come where I am considering getting a pontoon boat for fishing the bow. I am looking for some recommendations/warnings some of you may have that own a pontoon. I am primarily going to be using this boat on the bow. I am 6'5" and around 215lbs, so I want something sturdy that I will be relatively safe in. I don't necessarily want to break the bank, but I also do not want to compromise my safety. From the research I have done, it seems I want around a 9' boat. Some adequate storage space would be nice, in case I decide to do an overnight camp. Ease of assembly is also pretty important, though not necessarily a deal breaker. TIA for all the help! Mike
  5. As mentioned above, use for practicing and replace with a new one. You don't want to have to use it one day only to find out it doesn't work...your life is worth more than the $29.95 price of a can of spray. Tested one once that hadn't even reached the expiry date, and it just dribbled out of the can...should be fired roughly waist high straight into the face of the bear....believe it or not I've seen people hold it up in the air like an air horn which would be absolutely useless in an encounter....
