  1. Most fly shops definitely have a space outdoors where they will let you cast before making a decisions. Just let them know what action/application you are looking for and they'll line a few rods up for you to try.
  2. Try the ESRD Environmental Hotline 1-800-222-6514
  3. Stay away from Careful Movers aka Furniture Relocators or anything to do with a manager named Austin McKinnon. Total nightmare with this guy. Multiple lawsuits against him and his companies. Be careful!
  4. Trout Streams of Alberta has been updated and re-released this year. I've heard Jim will be doing some book signings for the new release (if he hasn't already done them). Check with your local flyshop and get your copy. http://www.mclennanflyfishing.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&catid=8&id=18 Great writing.
  5. Get to your closest fly shop, pick up a copy of Jim McLennan's Trout Streams of Alberta, and read it front to back. You won't be able to put it down anyways. Everything you're looking for is in there. Cheers and enjoy! Current
  6. Used to rent from Western Midland. They were usually pretty helpful. Give them a shout. I don't remember the costs. http://westernmidland.com/ Hope this helps.
  7. They've got a banner up now with a link to their preliminary website. http://www.ironbowflyshop.com/ Check it out. There are links to product lines, a map of the location, a few pictures, and you can sign up for their newsletter. Not sure why this doesn't show up on Google yet.
  8. Simms Drift or Headwaters look like decent quality. Have heard good things about the newer Redingtons as noted above.
  9. You're my second favourite FFC member!
  10. IMO it's still wet wading season. You could just wear your wading boots with a couple thick pairs of socks or neoprene wading socks. That way you could leave the stink at home!
  11. Thanks for posting. It's Iron "Bow" not blue, Doc. Looking forward to supporting a great new shop in the NW!
  12. Thanks, tf. Got this message last week. I've hmmed and hawed over it long enough. Thought this extension might be a sign to go for it!
  13. Thanks for the info, Chris.
  14. Thanks for clarifying, Taco. TU Canada gives a "premium Winston or Orvis rod" with the purchase of a lifetime membership. Was wondering if anyone knew which rod. It used to be the BIIx years ago.
  15. Thanks, Über. I figured it was the BIIIx. Might call Chris at BRT to confirm. Cheers.
  16. Hi All, Does anybody know what Winston rod you can get with the Trout Unlimited lifetime membership? Thanks, Current
  17. It might be the soaking of the chenille in head cement that is making it brittle. Though this does happen to most chenille worms after a lot of use. Good luck! Current
  18. Yeah! Those Duns look especially juicy! Nice work
  19. Excellent! Any lunkers? Cheers, Current
  20. It might be cheaper just to buy new flies to replace the ones you lost up there.....but I've used Tree Frog a couple times and have been happy with the work/price.
  21. It seems like most of our fathers did fine before the advent of the internet. If you're looking on a computer for a place to go fishing...you're doing it wrong!...imho
