46" Sharp Aquos HD LCD TV. not gonna happen had to buy a new washer and dryer this month. Will settle for just about any book on fly fishing or tying.

I was thinking I would like to join in but I really have no idea what kind of category I fit in. we need some structured guidelines I was thinking pros (not necessarily paid but experts) vs amateurs and then age groupings. So i would be the 30-40 yr old amateur group.

Thanks I was thinking of doing some baetis nymphs over the winter and that pattern looks good.

I was trying hard to remember his demonstration from the exhibition last year and it seemed it was a lot sparser (more sparse wheres SJW when you need word help) but like BBB said its going into a shadow box I don't really want to be able to see through it.

I love this logo it would look great on shirts. A couple of edits that I would make first the reel is still probably too detailed and in the wrong place (j/k sorry spey guys), second I think including some fingers on Max's left hand under the fish might improve the look of the fish. The fish body shape is almost impossible in my opinion because the fish in the original is long and therefore spine is slightly bent. Again wicked stuff from all.

Maybe his buddy should put the camera down and give him a hand. He didn't just drag it out of the water but he rubbed it on the rock at one point.

So I am tying flies to make a shadow box for my dads 60th birthday in January hoping to have it done by Christmas. Gonna try for 6 flies the first I am working on is a Clouser Minnow. Please I can use any advise I think this one is over dressed.

My inlaws bought me one of those Walmart kits about 5 years ago for christmas, best present they ever got me by far. Only really been serious about tying for the past year.

I don't remember the first fly I tied but it didn't look that good. That one will catch fish for sure, or just keep it and look back after a couple of dozen more and you will realize how good that actually is.

I use 10lb Vanish and then 3x and then 5x for nymph rigs which is mostly what I fish.

My grandfather was stationed in the Aleutians (sp?) during WWII and he has great stories about friends and the goings on. He never saw any combat thankfully. Thanks to everyone who has put their life on the line in any capacity for our country. I hope that we all continue to remember and honour all of those that serve us. I fear that we sometimes overlook the people that serve at home or were involved in the lesser known conflicts. Thank you all.

Yes I wanted it to resemble the cork grip, my current plan is to a sheet of cork and roll into a half circle and glue the edges to a deep picture frame I will let you know how it goes.

SO know that I have completely hijacked this thread. I just want it to resemble a handle, how does one shape cork if I was to buy some from a hobby store?

I have been drooling over the Sharp AQUOS line for over a year now just can't justify spending my kids college money on it. You will be happy with your TV I have heard nothing but good reviews about them. Over the kind of distance you are talking about, even it went half way around your house there won't be any difference in the picture quality because it is a digital signal don't spend the extra on expensive HDMI cables (monster is not the only brand out there that is drastically over priced) buy beer instead and enjoy the game. Someone mentioned B&E which we use a lot for work and I would recommend them as well, and while you are there buy some enamel coated wire for tying flies. my 2 cents.

Ok so I had a thought ( first in a week) I was wondering does anyone know where to get cheap cork rod handles? I was thinking of doing a deep photo frame with a quarter round of cork handle in the bottom of it with a few flies stuck in it. I was thinking of doing one of these for my dad for christmas with a photo of the pond near his house where I grew up fishing.

I agree that the license fees for fishing here in Alberta are low and I don't have a problem with an increase, however I think that like Flytyer said, all other recreational water users rafters, kayakers, etc., should have to pay a license fee to help protect our resources for everyone. I do also feel that because we as anglers are putting pressure more directly on fish stocks that we should be responsible for the majority of cost of maintaining these stocks and that the fees gathered from rafters, kayakers, boaters etc should be more general maintenance of our water resources.

I would like in the this one I really enjoyed the last one. If are supposed to pick a number already i pick #4.
