yup,I think it's the most important day of the year...I tend to keep my poppy in my car too since it always pulls out of my jacket due to the seatbelt or whatever....but I try to drop some money in the poppy boxes. I always feel bad when I see someone wearing a poppy and I don't have one on....but like the old saying goes it's the thought that counts and in this case the rememberance. We are pretty lucky to have the freedom we have. Lest We Forget.

I don't have much for sweet spots yet but there is a cpl places I'm somewhat comfortable with but I usually move on to a new place I've never been after that in hopes I'll have some knowledge down the road.There were/are days when I would have like to have someone point me in the exact right direction but in the long run I'd rather scope it out for myself. I'm totally happy with all the help that is out there otherwise as far as rig set-ups etc go...people are great to say what they have had success with what kinda hatches they are seeing come off etc etc....that alone if you think about it is a wealth of knowledge.The rest is just footwork....

guess the bird sanctuary isn't closed to walking and wading...I looked at those regs and got hung up on the stuff that was closed so I asked someone....prbly a misunderstanding. giddy-up

from the weir by downtown calgary to bears paw damn is closed hwy 24 to the carsland weir is closed tie your weights above the flies but if you're on bottom i think that's most important beadhead prince,evil weevil,copper john,boatman,red ice cream cone or midge pattern......to name a few no expert but these should be a good start....i know the bird sanctuary is closed for walking and wading...it's easy to see on an online map...other than that she should be wide open i hope someone will correct me if i'm wrong

they'll prbly just have wi-waxy open on man made and it will be a gong show didn't locke just take back hold of the reins for the lake? ...he owned the hill from the early 80s til 03 i think .... it's gonna operate separate from the RCR so ya there will be some hits in the park but nothing big i doubt....no word of a super pipe either...i think they might still have the grinder for it

if i had just recently bought a pontoon boat and liked to fish the shallow water AND if my only rod was a 9' 6wt AND IF I GET SKUNKED SOME DAYS ...i would be thoroughly insulted but nope... i use a gill net and sell my fish to Sobeys

i was wondering the same thing...since i know very little about the spawning habits and would prbly fall face first into a redd before i saw it...i dread pulling a fish off one,i should research this more instead of spey rods...ha very curious to hear some insights to osprey's post

and here i sat 5 mins ago thinking i don't need any more gear... are the two hander GP series a decent rod? Although these great rods don’t come with our standard warranty, we will replace any broken GP fly rod with a “like” rod for a nominal fee. wonder what the nominal fee is..guess i could give 'em a shout and i just noticed the GPR 9/10s reel for 35 bux!!

you can spey cast single hand or double hand rods...traditionally i think it was double handers single spey is basically a roll cast and a double spey is a roll cast with a line re-position prior to the roll cast check out this video of a single handed double spey benefit-you can fish areas/conditions where a back cast isn't possible...another good benefit is no false casts

holy frig ...learned so much,i have batted a fly rod around for a long time but all i ever knew was dry flies and nothing in entomology.....just throw it out and hope to get a take,knew nothing about proper casting and casting styles and i have the wrist break to prove it,so that being said I won't write out EVERY little thing I have learned I learned a lot about nymphing I think all the basic stuff using weight settin on every twitch etc ...i need to learn how to read hatches on my own and continue to learn more about nymphing respectively ...i think it's the bread and butter of fishing the bow IMO i learned how to spey cast and double spey cast with a triple fly rig mind you!!(thx maxwell) i rarely overhand anymore...playin around with the snake roll cast and the snap tee..i want to learn to double haul and shoot line and since buying a boat i have learned that when fishing from shore i try to cast to the middle and when fishing from the middle i try to cast to the shore lol ...I hooked a nice bow today and on the cast i think my bottom fly touched grass before falling into the water... when a fish hits a streamer he hits it doin 40 i think most importantly i have learned that there is a lot of good people out there ....so many people willing to share facts,ideas and thoughts.....from here on the board to people out on the river handing me a cpl flies that were working for them ....that's pretty cool!! thx and tight lines!!
