  1. this chick has it dialed vids &
  2. you can spey cast single hand or double hand rods...traditionally i think it was double handers single spey is basically a roll cast and a double spey is a roll cast with a line re-position prior to the roll cast check out this video of a single handed double spey benefit-you can fish areas/conditions where a back cast isn't possible...another good benefit is no false casts
  3. did everyone catch the article 'Going Deep in the Name of Trout Research' linked on #23
  4. holy frig ...learned so much,i have batted a fly rod around for a long time but all i ever knew was dry flies and nothing in entomology.....just throw it out and hope to get a take, knew nothing about proper casting and casting styles and i have the wrist break to prove it,so that being said I won't write out EVERY little thing I have learned I learned a lot about nymphing I think all the basic stuff using weight settin on every twitch etc ...i need to learn how to read hatches on my own and continue to learn more about nymphing respectively ...i think it's the bread and butter of fishing the bow IMO i learned how to spey cast and double spey cast with a triple fly rig mind you!!(thx maxwell) i rarely overhand anymore...playin around with the snake roll cast and the snap tee..i want to learn to double haul and shoot line and since buying a boat i have learned that when fishing from shore i try to cast to the middle and when fishing from the middle i try to cast to the shore lol ...I hooked a nice bow today and on the cast i think my bottom fly touched grass before falling into the water... when a fish hits a streamer he hits it doin 40 i think most importantly i have learned that there is a lot of good people out there ....so many people willing to share facts, ideas and thoughts.....from here on the board to people out on the river handing me a cpl flies that were working for them ....that's pretty cool!! thx and tight lines!!
  5. nice shots man...nice lookin fishies too!!
  6. I could totally see something like that slowing a wind drift but a current drift?...w/o touching botom? I'd be interested in seeing that link as well....I'm sure there's lots of people twisting their brain to come up with something.Aside from the shallow water I think a little electric motor would be awesome.....possibly the best case ontario ...lol

    holy crap...nice bow!! measured?
  8. awesome thx ....that gives me a timeframe to work with went back in the forums and found this too, posted sept 18 2008 Glenrore to 22x is (3-4) depending on flow rate, stops, etc. 22x to Police ( 1 to 1.25 hours)
  9. haha ...^ that's good advice!! thx for the comebacks there guys ...but if someone could give some put in locations and some rough drift times til I figure it out myself that'd be great.I was gonna go looking for put ins tonight but I spent the evening looking for a PFD,picked up a cheap one for now but I am looking at the floater coats by Mustang ...kinda pricey for right now,put it on the wishlist!! I'm pretty sure there's a drop at glenmore,I know there's one at fishcreek by 22X ....so let's say times from glenmore to 22x then 22x to Policemans....what's after that,MacKinnons? wicked, right on,thx
  10. I was poking around online the other night and found this from the Class V website.I think the idea is it still drags bottom but rarely catches....not sure how 'friendly' that would be. Class V A cluster of chain on a carabiner that weighs 5 pounds. Great for drift fishing from standing platform. Slows you down but rarely catches.
  11. right on,sounds good.... who in town carries the outcast fins? thx
  12. hey everyone... I just bought an Outcast Discovery 8 (not the IR) and never had it in the water yet and never even used one before period.I have oared boats surfed canoes and generally been around water lots but I'm looking for advice on this type of boating and floating the Bow first of all,is there anything on the river that would be too much for this boat? ....how are these boats for rubbing rocks and branches etc.....I'm thinking it should be decent for the little rapids and fair for punctures resistance but anyone with experience could fill me in a little better that would be great!! (hazards etc)..I know some of these rapids prbly look bigger when your sittin ON the water..... Also what kind of fins would be good ....I doubt i will be buying the 140 dollars ones but input again would be much appreciated.Where are the put ins for here in the city.....and what kinda float times are we talkin to policemans etc anything else from the 'tooners' would be great....mods or whatever that has worked for you..looks like a great little boat for river fishing...can't wait thanks!! and if anyone is looking to meet up to do a float just let me know....
  13. I'm definately no expert but make sure you're rig is rolling on bottom (use split shot) and set the hook on every twitch of that indie, set on everything and anything....and not just a little flick of the rod tip....set it hard!! most times my set turns into a back cast
  14. uhmmmm.... your what hurts???
  15. how about gummy worms or bears soaked in vodka...don't scoff!! they're actually potent little buggers....throw them in a sandwhich bag and they're gtg for the ski hill or fishing or whatever....not driving tho...
  16. Hi, know any good uses for vodka?
  17. 16. Mix Vodka with RockStar to put a new perspective on things.
  18. Just wondering why it closes from the weir to hwy 24 when the rest of the bow above and below stays open.... awesome job on the poachers ...this kind of action and consequences will hopefully deter future poachers....
  19. thx for the input guys ....the one day of rain didn't appear to have any affect. nice weekend....managed to snipe a few out of it and a cpl long releases with and without gear back good fishing!
  20. hey all.. pretty new on here and to the bow and I'm wondering what kinda info you have on the affect of rain or run-off as far as a day like today and fishing tomorrow (for example) .... maybe what works best in these types of condition etc...whatever you want to share in general or detail thx and good fishin will gas prices go up if it keeps raining? grrr
