  1. Took mine to Spirit West, they do a pressure test for $18 and will mark where you have holes. They can fix the waders as well, I had them fix the leak in the seam and I decided to fix the pin holes myself.
  2. Suzy Q's in Inglewood is a great source for beads
  3. Jay, I wouldn't ever pull a stunt to announce a passing if it wasn't verified; I talked to Gord's wife this morning over the phone.
  4. It is with sad news that Gord Kennedy, owner of Westwinds Fly shop passed away this weekend. RIP Gord, may there be trout in the sky for you to chase and Labradors to keep you company.
  5. Not always cheap to get there, but San Pedro, Belize is a good place to cover most of your requirements. Sun Breeze hotel is reasonable, lots of bonefish, neat eating and drinking establishments, etc
  6. http://iphix.ca Iphix is located in Eau Claire Market; highly recommend them
  7. Johnny Sorry that you had to go through this. The real kicker is Sir "Punching Bag" was once a guide on our beloved Bow River and he should have known better himself. Next time you are around, lets go for a coffee.
  8. Looks like it doesn't have to go far to touch the Deerfoot. Hope everyone is safe and sound tonight. If you require a place to stay that is dry send me a pm. We have room, food, water and lots of blankets.
  9. Picked up a Champion 3500/3000 watt fom Costco two years ago. It is still going strong with no major hiccups thus far From what I have read, Honda's are the best, but my logic was that what I paid for the champion, I could go through 8 of them for the price of the equivalent Honda. Or as often as I use it I couldn't justify the price of the Honda.
  10. All good reels mentioned so far. I would set a budget and it will be easy to find something that will fit in your budget that you won't regret the purchase. I have had great luck with the following reels Galvan Rush and Galvan Torques Abel Super Series 78N Bauer Super Mackenzies Hatch reels Orvis Reels Sage Reels, Ross reels (Momentum and Evolution) Nautilus reels There are a lot of reels that will fit your needs for a dependable drag system, maybe take your fly rod into some of the fly shops and put the reels on your rod. Play with the reels a little (take it apart, look at the drag) tighten and loosen the drag- see how it feels on your rod and in your hands. Have fun shopping
  11. Kensington boots will put new felt on your boots. You will have to supply the felt though.
  12. http://www.smithcreek.co/net-holster.php Should be available at Fishtales
  13. Peter, it is your computers way of telling you nicely to get off the computer and to go outside and take the dog for a walk.
  14. Peter, I think you are looking at the Trout Unlimited website from the States. Here is the link for Trout Unlimited Canada in regards to the membership. It appears the Lifetime membership went up to $1500 as of March 1st http://www.tucanada.org/index.asp?p=2016
  15. It should be one of their Premium rods that they offer. I have had two friends who recently purchased the lifetime memberships. One received a BIIISX 8wt and the other chose a 10wt (not sure the model)
  16. Have you thought about looking around the Rocky Mountain House area? There are some creeks, rivers and lakes in the area. Not too far from hitting the Bow or the Crow for a weekend.
  17. What if you used one to just get to fishing spots on the river and not worry about fishing from one? Might be a neat way to float the river and find some new spots?
  18. x2 We didn't stay right at Surveyor's but we were in the Kikkoman Creek Provincial Park group camp for a family Reunion. We swam in Lake Koocanusa, watched the turtles in Surveryor's lake and a much smaller lake, kids were able to ride their bikes around. They have great showers and washrooms and you really are a short drive to Fernie. Lots of fishing in the area as well, We were there August Long weekend, and it was busy but with a little walk you could get away from the crowds especially around the lake.
  19. x2 I used electrical tape to run it through the system. I picked up the rope from MEC; just take in a small piece of your existing anchor rope to compare for size.
  20. You could check out Hyde's ez anchor system, http://hydeoutdoors.com/onlineflyshop/inde...;product_id=134
  21. You should look at mpurchasing your own gear, you can get yourself into some less expensive rods and reels that will do the trick. You should have a 8wt as previously mentioned, your 6wt will under gunned for even casting in the winds down on the flats let alone hooking into a larger bonefish. Maybe if your were going to Belize the 6wt could be brought out as a lightweight/ultralight set up for the smaller bones. But Cuba has a larger average size of bonefish. Maybe look at a fast action 10wt, that will get you through the permit fishing and smaller tarpon. Personally I would prefer to chase tarpon in the smaller sizes (upto 50-60lbs) as they still fight awesome but won't kick the shite out of you after one fish, you will want to catch a couple more. That is just my opinion though, catching the huge ones would be cool too, but your energy levels can done for the day after one fish if you are able find one. Believe me, this won't be your one and only trip, you will addicted and will be finding ways to get yourself back into the salt. Spend more on your 8wt as you will be able to use it here for streamer fishing, pike, walleye, bull trout and even carp. A lot of manufacturers like Winston, Sage, Loomis, TFO, Redington, etc offer a budget conscious saltwater capable set ups for you that will cost you a little more than renting. With renting, you will be responsible for warranty claims for breakage and replacing reels if they aren't returned in satisfactory condition (just my experience with renting/borrowing gear) Hope this helps a little, regardless go have some fun.
  22. Give Mike Lamb a call, he has the beautiful lodge right at Burmis Lake that can easily accommodate a large group. crowsnest@jrtwave.com Or 403-564-4271 Chris
  23. Well I keep trying to get out fishing with BBT or that Devlin guy, looking at them for sure tells you that they ain't human and they don't walk on all fours so that eliminates the potential of being canines Not sure what they are to tell you the truth.........
  24. I have a pair with the rose color lens and have worn them for many years of fishing and for shooting sporting clays. They offer a nice contrast in brighter light situations. I just purchased a pair in the HT lense and like them more than the rose. I haven't found them to let in too much light on the brighter days and are ver very good in low light situations. They are prescriptions and I need them for driving. I forgot my regular glasses one evening after my sons indoor soccer game and ended up using the sunglasses instead. With the street lights being the only source of light I didn't find the HT lenses too dark.
  25. If you look closely, there is a bumper sticker it reads, " Thanks for the Mammories"
