  1. The Nisga'a are self governed, and have a 'treaty', do they not?
  2. Maybe this will help. He doesn't mention it, and while you are trout fishing... Don't trout set while streamer fishing . Strip set!
  3. What are you fishing when you're losing the fish? Streamers/drys/nymphs?
  4. not really....just don't park in the spot that a boat trailer can actually turn around or leave a mess...we need to put up some signs.
  5. damn, that's a pretty good opportunity for a budding wildlife bio or ecologist..... Hard to commit to that without getting paid
  6. Definitely window style. I use this one, covers most bases. Big hoppers go in slit along with all the nymphs. Keeps it nice and simple http://www.intheriffle.com/frontend/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/CF-12-compartment-8-row-fly-box.jpg

    In The Vise

    Looks like palmered marabou
  8. Well one I do know, Policemens is where the RCMP used to cross with their horses.
  9. Or be there in late august for 20 days and have mud every day. This movie drove me nuts as they started complaining about bad fishing after 4 hours of catching nothing. Welcome to steelheading.
  10. If you're floating the city and dont expect it to be full of W&W dudes, and then are annoyed about it so won't give them right-of-way...you're just not thinking
  11. bean em... or at least say something.. Was a pretty eye opening experience on the Missouri last year, where there are a hell of a lot more boats, and a HELL of a lot more respect. Must be the handguns in the glovebox.
  12. Haven't been any stockings for a very long time, and it's spawning limited with i believe one stream to spawn in. Think of what bullshead could do if given the same opportunity...It'll keep producing brutes as there arent 10,000,000 little turds being dumped in it every spring
  13. i was wet wading pike fishing yesterday. other then being gross, it was fine for temp
  14. they just graded it...bandaid. Once we get our early june monsoon, it will be a mess all over again
  15. How do you decide something is fun to fish when compared to others? I can't stand a hardys loud clicker, but others can't get enough. We'd have very different ratings on that kind of stuff
  16. As always, find these really funny. The winner is one that leads by 1 point, but there is a ton of subjective topics. Best sounding drag, best reel case (since when does THAT matter?!), reel handle, etc. Not sure how reel handle design, 'fun to fish' is considered 'performance'. Then again, impressed that they put the Loop so far down considering they're a dealer Also funny that Canada doesn't compare to the USA under where manufactured...
  17. ya its open. Condition of the launch is questionable (as always), but should be ok until after runoff..... Doesn't look like anyone has been down there with a report recently. That would be one hell of a long float (especially if you found good fishing), but if you just rowed from Mac you'd be fine. Odds of water conditions being favorable from the highwood down are pretty well slim to none right now, so you'd likely be rowing out anyway.
  18. Check the regs, you are required to have certain things (throw rope, etc). Other then that KISS

    Black Widow

The moment you do , you'll feel like *hit. I know a lot of the guides on the bulkley refuse to use some of the commercial flies as they have to long a loop and kept killing fish

    Black Widow

i like it, but that hook is excessively far back. only need it long enough to switch out. Dont need to gill a steely
  21. They'll stick willow stakes on it, which the beavers will all eat. That bank sucked anyway, mucky and not really fishy until well downstream.. http://www.calgary.ca/UEP/Water/Documents/Water-Documents/Diamond_Cove_Community_Presentation_2014.pdf at least trout like riprap...
  22. depends what you want. pontoons are nice, but heavy.. the one man rafts are pretty sweet. Fold up and put in the back of a civic if needed
  23. Well, the lack of rocker sucks. It really does. makes you plow water like mad. Also, if you've never rowed with the attached rack and pin, expect to be disapointed. That's the biggest flaw with all these boats, but also what keeps them light. You can't dig in, you can't twist your wrists or anything. Also, by drilling a hole in the oar shaft to fit on the pin, you've automatically made it much weaker.
  24. yes, i've rowed both. I have put ~30 days on my scadden on the Copper and Bulkley in the last 2 years, and well over 50 if you add in pike fishing and the Bow here. The fact of the matter is, on those rivers, you're not just a duck floating down river. Watched LOTS of guys in their watermasters paddle damn hard to get across the bulkley (which is not a challenging river above the canyon) to a run on the other bank and completely miss it due to the lack of rocker. Had it for 3 years without a single issue. Also know that everyone i know with either boat is happy with it, and don't know a person who has actually had a problem with their scadden yet...As they say, you'll hear all the bad stories, but never the positive ones. Likely going to hear more about Scadden, as its my impression with the number of rafts that I've seen (and gents ive talked to in the states), that they're probably selling 10 or more to each 1 WM. WM is pretty well unknown outside of the steelhead (and now slowly into the trout) circle. Enjoy your boat. I understand wanting to defend your purchase. I would have been much more inclined to think WM if they had felt like taking the time to give me a call or email. There rep also did not respond to numerous contact attempts.
  25. Curious if you've actually rowed either one (let alone both)...performance over parts, any day
