  1. Otters are moving out of their tradtional ranges and into new areas. Maybe something to do with all the human activity in their home waters? Naw, we wouldn't let something like that happen. Mike
  2. Just for oldtimes sake: http://www.dailykos.com/story/2011/07/20/9...Met-ClimateGate Mike
  3. I'd tell you what the next phase is, but it would only scare you. Been there, done that. Mike
  4. Last time I voted Islander. This time I'm going with Hardys- kinda neat fishing a reel older than I am. Mike
  5. Month- Sept or Oct Where- Smithers or Terrace Flies- Egg sucking leech, bunny leech, alaskabou style, the list is endless Type of water- holding type water and finding it is the key to steelhead gear- 8 or 9wt is fine. spey rod is probably best but I get by with a single handed. In Smithers go to Oscars Sporting Goods- they are very helpful. Mike
  6. I'd go with the "medicine" to start. Mike
  7. Fished Beaver last week and was told by one of the regulars it was stocked about June 1st. Mike
  8. First in with " Cycling would be great except for all the jet boats " Mike
  9. Contact the Alberta Insurance Council and raise your concerns with them. I believe they are the Regulatory Board for Alberta. Mike
  10. Appears to be slow everywhere. Late spring-waters still cold- that's my story and I'm sticking to it. Mike
  11. Some vehicles have battery shut off so if you leave your lights on it will shut things down so you have enough juice to start your car. Maybe check your owner's manual to see if you have it and how it works. I would also try to repeat it to make sure it wasn't a once only type thing. Mike
  12. Whether you sod or seed, good soil prep is the key. If you spread a couple of inches of top soil over the subsoil and plant on that, your lawn will be crap and never amount to much. There are many good books available at the Library that give guidance. Also, as Harps said, think about some Xeriscaping or putting flower beds rather than a sea of grass, it's a lot friendlier for the environment. Mike
  13. Dr. Doom---works great Mike
  14. The Marquis was a well made, mid priced reel produced from about 1970 to 2000 and was very popular. Parts are readily available from Hardy. See them on Ebay alot with prices $100 to $250. Mike
  15. So how long did it take to bike to work with all of the "distractions" ? Mike
  16. I've driven by his place up on the Kispiox. Talk about the end of the road, but it is beautiful up there. Great Video. Mike
  17. I would think 60 20 20 would be good in a 9 ft length. If you are going to use a piece of yarn as a hook I would keep the thickness heavy in order to turn the yarn over. Regards Mike
  18. Smitty, Maybe get a hold of the Edmonton Trout Fishing Club and Northern Lights Fly Tying Club. I sure they would put the word out to their members. Regards Mike
  19. Sad to see an interesting thread go down the toilet.
  20. Ballpark $150 - $200 depending on condition. Regards Mike
  21. What---no Perch? Regards Mike
  22. We're off to see the Wizard The wonderful Wizard of-- Oops wrong Wizard.
  23. Everything seems to be cascading out of control- one problem after another and they just can't catchup. The Power Co certainly doesn't seem to deserve the loyalty, dedication and courage of it's front line workers. Older and retired workers are be asked to help as they will maybe die of old age before the cancer caused by radiation kills them--unbelievable. Their courage defies description. Regards Mike
