Maybe, maybe not, but currently I have no desire to angle right now, since that day. I spent 112 days focusing on purely brown trout streams looking for a trophy this season, I only drifted the Bow once and used my drifter twice, I've just been solely focused on slamming a true trophy bruin. I saw a lot of 14-18" browns, a few over 20" and a couple over 22." There really wasn't a fish that stood out for the season but I feel I did crack the code on a bunch of these brown trout creeks. After Oct 1st I don't really hunt for the browns as much as I want to because I like to respect the spawn, so I decided to switch up my focus and look for some cutties and dirty rainbows... I went into an area that I had never fished and figured I would yank a cuttie and maybe tie into a tank rainbow or two. I had just bought a new Sage VXP 590 and I wanted to swing it for a bit so that was the stick in my hand. I was using the only fly to use, the Sparkle Minnow. I walked a couple K from the car and found a piece of water I had checked out on Google earth, I did two swings nothing, on my third my fly stopped cold.... on one of the many logs this creek has in its waters... so I thought. I pointed the rod to the "snag" and started to pull to bust it off and it moved..... moved hard and fast... I had to run a little, scramble along the rocks a little, keep my line out of log jams a little, I peed a little when I saw the size and then cried a little when I landed her... my personal best brown. After the release I sat on shore for an easy hour, just in awe of what happened... I've seen a 28" brown before personally but this is the biggest brown I have caught or have seen personally. I haven't had the desire to fish since, I have bought a bow and I am practising for some hunting now. I will happily give my finned friends a break until April 1st, or when the itch needs to be scratched but for now I am a content angler. I'm going to let you guys figure the length, I know what she was. That there is a brown that clearly goes past the first section of a four piece 590. Enjoy

I keep my indis in the arbour of my nymphing reels.

Fish the biggest tippet possible. I don't even waste my time with tippet anymore. I purchase Pline Flouro, I fish it for everything but dries. I use 15lb for streamers and for my nymph rigs to the swivel, after the swivel I run 8lb and 6lb. For streamers I chuck a piece of 15lb, rarely do I break off.

Hello All, I recently acquired a new stove and I need a gas line run to, so I'm looking for a gas fitter.... who do you know?

I've got agree with Bowflyman. I'll add that I've fished streamers pretty much exclusively for the last few years and observing browns in small waters has led me to believe that the predator fish tries to clip the tail of the prey. The predator then swings around to eat the immobilized prey. I'm sure others have witnessed this. I like Sz 18 stingers tied into the very end of the tail and when I get a short strike that doesn't stick I just stop striping, feed a bit of line and dead drift. The fish will set themselves on the returning strike.

If judges choose to value poached fish at $207 each, that's what the public will value those fish at, and that's a bloody shame. This case was a failure of justice, and it set a precedent. -

How can you say it has nothing to do with the judge.... she is the one that decided the sentence, the option for a harsher sentence was there, the legislation has teeth, it was asked for by the crown, and clearly supported by the populace. The judge thought any further fines would be a hardship..... well that's the idea -

I remember the first time I went into Tombstone... it doesn't matter what you toss at them they will fight to eat your fly

Back Country User System, Could This Work?
Jayhad replied to billie's topic in General Chat - Not Fishing Related (NFR)
This is the most ridiculous thread ever, how entitled are you that you think you can ban citizens from using the land that rightfully belongs to the citizenry. So single parent that works two jobs in this province to keep food on the table is no longer allowed in the bush? Your answer is well he/she can't afford the user fee or the time to volunteer so they can stay in the concrete jungle. This is no different than anglers rallying against rafters or jet boats because it ruins MY day of fishing. This has nothing to due with the lack of taxes no one wants to pay, this province has had days of far more than enough money to protect the environment. -

I don't golf because I don't pay to go outside.... this seams similar -
you're completely correct, I have fished for bulls in Sept, I was taken to task for it and I am thankful that someone educated me on the problems I was causing.
-
I'm suggesting you should be aware of the impacts you are inflecting when making choices on what fish to target.... most of the creeks and rivers are closed in the spring to protect rainbows and cutts, but you can limit your exposure to bulls and browns in the fall by not fishing streamers. Ideally yes I would like to see waters closed in the fall that have spawning populations in them, there are countless other waters to get your kicks. I'm not trolling you
-
Rick, you are right we as anglers are legally allowed to hammer these fish, wipe off the jizz and take a hero pic so have at it hoss.
-
I'm going to be that guy. When are people going to stop targeting bulls when they are staging for spawning, catching bulls right now puts undue stress on these great fish and can cause them to for go spawning all together..... but hey you'll get a hero shot

I Want To Do The Right Thing
Jayhad replied to flyfishy's topic in General Chat - Not Fishing Related (NFR)
Dungeons probably take me the longest amount of time to tie, but I don't ever do them in one move, I tie a bunch of tails, then a bunch of bodies looped to the tales, and then I do the deer hair when all the bodies are done. I find this gets me better flies because of the repetition, especially with the deer hair. -

But Jpinkster, Steve is the only one that will allow you to keep your job and keep the country from becoming Greece.... I'm sure the rebel network has some information that shows bull trout are impacting our nations development needs. Thanks for the info Please read as sarcasm. -
