  2. I would assume the Bow is going to be the fishery?
  3. I'm pretty darn happy with my Redington Sonics, they are the most comfy waders I've worn
  4. Simplest answer no.... the weir itself has no bearing on where nutrients enter the river.... one of the major contributing factors of this great fishery is the sewage plant at calf robe. There is good food below calf robe, and that's where the fish want to be. That being said the Bow is decent fishery from bearspaw to WHD, but it is hard to fish from shore.... you always hear of guys fishing from shore up in the NW getting dink rainbows.... that's how it generally is from shore
  5. You are 100% right, with all the morons using raps with three trebles the fish are going to really suffer for this one.
  6. THere's a huge thread on AOF about barbed hooks being legal now in Alberta, Sundancer says he contacted SRD Hello Sun, Thank you for contacting the ESRD Information Centre. Yes that is true, that barbed hook legislation is no longer being enforced. Fish and Wildlife officers have ceased charging people for using barbed hooks, and will not swear tickets issued since the change in the legislation. Please feel free to contact if you require any more information. Cheers, Craig Brown Information Officer Environment and Sustainable Resource Development 9920-108 St. T5K M24 Are they serious, is there something we as fly anglers can do? The bait and gear guys are thinking this is the best day ever.... the fish in the Bow are soon going to have destroyed faces... Bait and barbs on one of the worlds best trout streams... what the hell?
  7. I've been wearing the mark's stuff for a couple of years, for the money I don't think it can be beat
  8. Dave, you know much more about the processes involved in managing fisheries than i do, so I'm asking for knowledge not an arguement. When we first started this discussion i thought that the Bow could easily follow the regulations set forth on the Bear's Paw to WHD section. Why is that section only closed for two month blocks during the spawn?
  9. Thanks guys, I need some more length for the deeper stretches of the Bow... hope to float this upcoming Sat & Sun
  10. Hey All, I've never had to change my anchor rope and I think it is pretty straight forward, but I was wondering if any of you have any tips. Where should I buy the rope, is there a specific rope? I have an in floor rope system so I was thinking of duct taping the new rope to the old rope and just carefully pulling it through, but I am concerned that the duct tape will get jammed up in the cleats of the floor button. Tips?
  11. I never said it was junk for rivers, I know many anglers on the left coast that use the Versa-tips for rivers.... it's just not for me, my dad love the Versatip. As for age, I have used last years' and one from 2009. Agreed, I find the Versatip is like many things that try to replicate many specific products in one package, it does all things adequately but not one thing perfectly.
  12. I have a Versitip..... and hate it, i have probably only used it 20 times but I couldn't get over the loop to loop connection, it always seamed that the loop is always with in the guides, it doesn't want to strip or shoot well because of this, especially from a drift boat. I understand the benefit to the versatip but compared to the quality of the Rio Streamertip it's a world of difference... I also have found when you try to roll cast anything heavy the line collapses at the loops. For Durability and quality of the product, the versatip is on par with Rio's premium lines. That said the Versatip is fine for lake usage.
  13. Am education system should never happen it is too exclusive of the resource, too costly for the average user and once again is an example of trying to legislate against idiots. Where is the extra revenue stream going to come from? It won't be coming from the cost of running the program..... have you ever witnessed a government run program that stays under let alone with in budget? This suggestion also doesn't address the fact that we have a world class fishery in Calgary that allows bait and fishing during spawning. A closure is the most efficent, cost effective way to stop people from fishing the Bow during the spawn.
  14. Maybe it was the massive damn the white folks put in that has no possibilty for adequate fish passage that caused the down fall of the once great Capilano salmon and steelhead runs. I think the First Nations people were managing the resource just fine until then.
  15. Yes and yes. I was out last saturday and i saw several big browns as well as a couple small rainbows
  16. how much are you going to bill out our free labour at.....
  17. I have the Playbook, I have a differing opinion on the it not being big enough.... I actually find it more user friendly because it is easier to carry... fits in my jean back pocket or hoodie pockets. I take it way more places than my 11" Galaxy It has excel, word and power point all of which work great, the camera's are beauty, the screen has great resolution but the KOBO reader is the worst product possible it jams all the time
  18. I have a bunch of the Sage luggage now and I love it, but I am now open to other offerings so looking around. Exactly what I thought I would hear about the Sage bag, thanks Jdangler
  19. I'm not looking for a dry bag or pack but a boat bag.... something like this http://www.sageflyfish.com/fly-fishing-luggage/technical/typhoon-boat-bag/
  20. What is the best (not most expensive) waterproof boat bag out there.... looking for some more storage
  21. there are a bunch of 7/8s out there, you don't find it too big on the 6wt? I would love to find a 5/6, but I use a 10' so maybe the 7/8. I'll keep combing through the weeb
  22. What size and how much if you don't mind? I 've been trying to find a golden prince myself
  23. My hat is off to you two, an excellent video and what an awesome partnership!
  24. Peter, Fish Tales has a super slick line welder, just take it to them and have them re weld a loop for you... works awesome
